Fred,

I like the style of the wing. If fits the car. Having the ability to adjust the angle would be a great feature. Is the main objective function or aesthetics?

I need to check this thing out some time over my semester break.

craaaazzy 12-09-12 01:06 PM

hi donnie,
it started as aesthetic but i may as well add functionality while i'm at it, thus a way to adjust it came into mind.

Fred, I have a new wing coming in in a few days, im sure you have never seen it before. We'll have to test fit it on your car if You haven't finished your wing yet.

Sounds good Alex, just let me know. Any pics of the wing? Thought I've seen all the wings before so am interested to know what you found.

As for my wing, got the aluminum and have cut it to shape. Also have the hinges modified for my need. Now will have to place an order for the supports.

Here is the wing installed on an SA, you may not like it for the wide body, its different.

craaaazzy 12-17-12 08:32 PM

Definitely interesting looking Alex.

Wing complete.

Here you can see the bracing on the bottom side: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Q...hoto%25201.JPG

Here's the top, installed: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-n...hoto%25203.JPG

View from the bottom, showing the bracing and hinge: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-v...hoto%25204.JPG

View from the back: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-8...hoto%25202.JPG

Overall, I'm liking the end result. Am able to adjust it easily with the turnbuckles as well as 2 additional adjustment holes on the mount on the body. Not sure if I want to paint it or leave it as is, as I like the "rawness" of the material.

Took a drive today and took some pics.

thanks. It's .080 aluminum. fairly thick but still flexes at that length, thus the bracing underneath. Was thinking about getting an aluminum composite panel but I needed it to flex a bit to contour to the body.

dbragg 12-29-12 10:05 AM

Looking good, Fred. You car is coming along very nicely.

craaaazzy 12-29-12 03:10 PM

Thanks. Seats may be coming out some time, debating whether or not to put carpeting in.

craaaazzy 12-31-12 12:37 PM

since i didn't have the rear filler panel, made one out of the scrap aluminum i had leftover from the wing.

Awesome BUILD FRED!!!!
Thanks for letting me know about this thread Marco!!

Fred, you bringing this to DGRR?

craaaazzy 01-04-13 09:04 AM

thanks phil. i'm definitely trying to make it to DGRR but just need to confirm project schedule as well as vacation (planning trip to Europe with the family).

che'srx-7 01-07-13 02:31 AM

Sexy car brother, is good to see widebodies out in the east coast.

craaaazzy 01-07-13 02:17 PM

thanks che. i saw that you picked up that red widebody, start a build thread on that cause i'd like to see what you do to it (all your cars are all very clean!).

i never liked the look of the front end of my car. something was off. based on marco's recommendation, i painted the molding on the front bumper with plastidip to see how it would look. if i didn't like it, i could easily peel it off. i think it looks better now. what do u guys think?

Widebody

It looks great, I like the black accents. The proper wheel offset is so important on a widebody. I have seen your kit with the wheel offset totally off, does not look good.

I tried getting the Mariah rear number in fiberglass for my widebody but they did not have it any longer.

How does it look under the Rear wheel wells since u did not mold the rear flares. I like what you did u don't have to worry about stress cracks.
