Blue 1984 GSl-SE TII swap

Hey Guys,

This is my first ever build thread. As you can see ive been on here over 10 years just havn't posted all that much. I have owned a few GSL-SEs and a TII in the past, but have never done any swaps. Well... i swapped a TII drivetrain into my GXL but i dont really count that cause it all just dropped right in it was too easy really... Anyways, I have always had 2 dream cars. 1. A clean, fast, fun, Turbo FB! I have always wanted one every since i had my first GSL-SE. They are so fun to drive with only 135 hp!!! I cant imagine 200-250hp. 2. I have to admit I still dream of getting a nice FD one day... I guess thats most peoples dream car on here). I finally found a perfect candidate for my TII swap. Here she is.

As you can see she is super clean. 150k miles, all stock except a header/straightpipe to stock muffler. Was owned by an old man until about a year ago. I got her, and a GSL-SE parts car for 1300$!!! The catch... she has a bad rear apex seal spring...

Hence, turbo swap time!!!!

Plans (we all know how those work out). I want to keep her pretty stock looking inside/outside. I really like the stock look of a clean original Gsl-se. I may do some small tastefull stuff here and there but nothing big. Under the hood i am putting a stockport TII engine/trans with a hybrid turbo, bigger injectors, FMIC, and megasquirt (or some other standalone).

Comments, advice, etc are appreciated!!!

Looks like it should be a fun build for you for sure. That parts car is worth its weight in gold, and it's an SE too - I'd say you got a steal of a deal there!

Let me know if you run into any complications, I've done two of these swaps now. Since you've already done a TII swap I'm sure you know your way around the wiring and systems of the TII motor though.

Congrats and good luck!

That's a steal at that price. Both cars look to be in great condition from the few pictures you posted.

Also, make sure you share some of those SE parts you don't use in the FS section.

the car does look clean, indeed. unbelievable price for both. mild turbo on a Megasquirt sounds like a solid plan. congrats.

Thanks guys for the comments! It really was an incredible deal! The guy was actually a corvette enthusiast but loved his little rotary car. He said he really enjoyed "zipping around in it" but was getting to old and didnt know how to work on it.

Anyways... i got the engine and tranny out. I also cleaned up the engine bay today but did take any pics of it cleaned, will post next time. Probably took about 4 hours to get everything out! I am gonna try to sell the engine as a whole unit (I am keeping the front cover, i already have another gsl-se pan).

Last time to see it original! Good-bye 135hp!!!

And shes out!

Another pic of her out

Complete engine setup (FS for 500$ if our interested)

Pacesetter headers, tapped hose for 5/6 ports

Another shot of engine

K&N filter with MAF

Empty Engine Bay

Up next- I actually have failed to find a TII engine still. I already have a good TII tranny, driveshaft, throttle cable, coils, etc. I just need an engine! If somebody has one hit me up. Until then, just things to prep for engine. I bought a pyrometer, wideband, and boost guage i will probably install this week. And try to locate a engine ASAP. Thanks for looking!
