Back from the dead - '79 13B 4 Port GS(L)

She used to be my daily when I was a youngin'. 12a popped about a decade ago. Had a '74 13B built for her previously but ran out of time, money and a place to work. Had removed most of the interior because the chassis sat outdoors for about 6 years. Now that I have a place to work on her again I'm back at it.

Here's some pics of her former glory and current progress.

After a clay bar sometime in the past.

RP01s, Man, those MX's were a great tire. Wish they still made them.

Long time ago in a galaxy right down the street

Homer Simpson air freshener. Joe Coleman's '83 racecar in background.

And then this happened.

Rocker panel hole. Galvanizing inside seems intact.

Better than I expected underneath all that dirt and mildew.

$55 2 wheel dolly rental FTW! Random Miata and Audi parts in the bed.

Cut some new bushing with my harbor freight 20 ton Shop press and a piece of exhaust pipe that happened to be exactly the right size.

No Wheel well cancer yet. Let's keep it that way.
Best thing about SA's. Stronger B pillar floor section.

S5 Seats

Only missing a couple screws. Need one for my glove box latch. Don't steal my plate number you criminals.

Stretching that headliner back out. Cool cherry blossom and deco star backer print. Also **** paint line from paint job after I got hit by a cop.

RX-4 Block w/ S5 9.7:1 Internals

Centerforce 2, Episode 1.

Just a little VHT epoxy paint top coat. Bought engine block paint but realized it was sparkle after I sprayed it on. So that's underneath.

NSU

Fidanza

Don't worry, I've fixed the plugwires since this photo. N8AC Gearbox w/ FB - S3 Bellhousing and Tailshaft.

Going in.
-You thieves.

Most thing on the car. Trying to finalize my 48 DCO/SP jet setup.

5VZFE swapped 4runner and 1.8t B5 Avant projects I'm working as well.

Need to get her up on the lift and cleanup the underside. Work on FC caliper brackets. Attach the driveshaft and find my exhaust! Have the header but the rest is hidden away somewhere. Getting close though.

Windshield wiper terminals are toast from UV rays.

Probably just hardwire it.

Scrubbing with WD40. - Probably have to cut out this lower quarter.

Acid washed.

Not jeans though.

Still salvageable. Might try to soda blast it. and POR 15 for the time being.

Driver's side is a little better.

Lil Bub el

Probably the worst part.

Lot of rust under the hood. Is it hood louver vent time?

Thanks guys! Glad to be back at it.

I had a 48 DHLA at one point but sold it due to higher than expected aluminum degradation and a previous owner's "blow thru mod" (hole in float bowl). Too much work to fix IMO.

Planning on using a Weber 48 DCOE, which is now just a SP. No choke, no worries.
Hard to find much info for setting this type of setup but I think I'm getting close to figuring it out.
Going to run 40mm Chokes, somewhere between 185-195 Main fuel fed by a Carter marine fuel pump I bought from a forum member many years ago and never installed.

Car is primary going to be used for AutoX and sunny day cruising so going for as much low end torque as she'll muster.
