It's been more than a month since my last update, not a whole lot has happened on this car, but there's a few minor things. Hurricane Sandy really did a number on our area, we were out of power for 2 weeks, and lost a ton of trees - a lot of my free time was spent cleaning up that mess.

I've put the MS3 on the backburner (indefinitely at this point) but still wanted the ability to do some tuning on the car. After some research I decided to get an Rtek. For those unfamiliar, it's a daughtercard that is installed (you send the ECU out, they mod it, and ship it back) into the the FC's computer. It allows tuning of fuel, timing, as well as adjustments to other parameters. Obviously it's much more limited than the MS3, but it's also plug and play which is what I need right now lol. I've been having fun data logging and generally messing around with the thing.

I removed the big yellow fog lights and put a much smaller set on. I was tired of those fogs, and honestly they didn't even work that well. These new ones (which are actually old ones I've had sitting on a shelf for years) work much better, and I'm happier with the look.

I'm currently working on a new intake setup for the car that will make use of the opening on the air dam previously occupied by the fog lights. I haven't finished it yet, but when I do I'll post pics.

I've actually been spending a lot of time working on rust repair/body work on my other FB and just enjoying this one for a while. I'll have to start a thread about it one of these days.

Anyway, here are a few random pics (crappy cell phone as usual, sorry) from the last few weeks. Enjoy.
-Sean

Thanks! I've been really enjoying it.

Unfortunately I've been very lax about taking pics of the other project, but I should have enough to get some kind of thread together... That car is getting new inner wheel wells, quarter panels, and basically the whole inner/outer rocker panel section replaced, along with the lower control arm mount.. A section of the inner wheel well is from a donor, as are the quarter panels, but the rest is all stuff I'm fabbing up. Not looking too bad for a hobbyist... It'll be getting fresh paint and a NA S5 engine too. Hoping to finish it over the winter so I can move onto my AE86 project lol... too many cars...

Yeah there's something about FB's with fall foliage around them that makes me happy too lol

Yeah I have the C7 spoiler on my other FB. I got the CF one, took a few months to get (this was back in 2010...) It fits pretty well, at least mine did. There were some slight gaps when I did a test fit, but once I started tightening the screws (I used some stainless sheet metal screws) gradually it pulled in nice and tight.

If you went with CF fender flares it'll match them really nicely.

i ordered the fiberglass flares and was looking at getting the fiberglass wing too, i like carbon fiber and all but too much is tacky.

Thanks Did you look at my original thread from 2007 on this? That's where all the rust repair etc happened and is what I really consider "the build" This thread is really just a repaint and some other random stuff lol. Either way though, thanks for the compliments!

Rear suspension is pretty basic, Tokico blue shocks, Eibach springs and poly bushings everywhere. It's a 84 GSL diff/housing still using the 4 link/watts setup although I'm thinking about changing that next year at some point... To get the FC brakes/wheels I've got the Re-speed/Moser axles and Re-speed brake conversion kit. The wheels are from a 91 FC base model (that style was only on the 91 base model) and I'm using a 20mm spacer in the rear to make it match the wider track width of the FC front subframe.

Edit - just realized I had posted pics of the rust repair in this thread, so yeah you did see most of it lol

I've never personally had RB springs, but I've heard other people saying they don't really lower the car much at all... How many miles have you put on them? It's possible they need to settle a little bit (probably not though) You could always cut a little off of them if you want it lower.

Nooo! Lol. Could've been much worse with that deer. I've seen worse damage from coyotes getting hit by cars. Glad your ok.

Wheels look good on there!

As for your RB springs J-LISS I had them before. With 15x7 wheels I had like 2-3" wheel gap. Get re-speed adjustable perches..

Been a while since I posted here, not a whole lot to update, but I'm always up for whoring out some pics lol. Got a new phone (samsung GS3) and was messing around with the camera. Works quite well, such a better phone than the blackberry I replaced lol.

Most of my time has been spent doing rust repair on the Pandafb (thread to come soon, been lazy about typing it up) so I haven't done much on this one (or driven it much for that matter, sadly). I've slowly been collecting parts to change the intake, and I also picked up a manual steering rack to try out. I need to sandblast it first though. Hoping to get some of that done in the next month or two, but we'll see.

In the meantime, pics!

Hey! Been researching many many hours and never even saw you had a build thread -

Those rims look awesome on your car by the way, I don't know why but I'm really digging them.

Thanks! Funny how you miss threads when your searching right lol. The wheels are from 91 non turbo, non verts. Not very common since they didn't make too many fcs in 91 but they also aren't very desirable so they are cheap lol.

Well I thought they were FD rims and they kind of took me back at first sight. But I think they look better than the Vert BBS's - now you have me second guessing myself on my Vert purchase. And I knew I had seen the Verts on a red FB but I didn't know it was yours.

So you like the MS for your setup? I'm considering a Haltech e6k or a newer setup called an Adaptronic out of Australia.

Now that you mention it they do kinda look like FD wheels are a real quick glance... I like both these and the Vert wheels, it's nice to switch between them, although at the moment the tires on the Vert wheels are trash lol.

Yeah I'm sure pics of my car are floating all over the place lol.

You probably missed the post (midway through the thread) but I was having issues with the MS3 (99% sure it was a wiring issue on my part) and I ended up shelving the project for a while. It's currently running a Rtek v2 modded N370 (US spec S5 T2) ECU. Obviously it's not as much of an upgrade as a full stand alone, but it gives me the ability to play around with the settings and log runs all while keeping the stock ECU functionality. I'll certainly be going with the MS3 at some point in the future, but for now I'm happy with the car

All the standalones have their pluses and minuses, I'm sure you'll like whatever you choose, assuming you put the time needed into learning it

Had a few rainy days last week which did a decent job cleaning the salt off the roads so I've been driving this the last few days. I got stuck in some traffic on Thursday and the brake pedal started sinking to the floor a few seconds after pressing it - a sure sign that the master cylinder was on it's way out. I took the one from my other FB, which is in pieces anyway, and swapped it in. Brakes are back to feeling great now

Took a few pics, otherwise just enjoying the car for now, not a whole lot else being done on it.

The air dam just clears that curb lol

Awesome pizza!

Back home after a wash and quick detail

Drool...... Nice looking car all spiffed up!

I'm starting up on the big project this week hopefully so I'll be in the ballpark of your car - can't wait.
