What TPS you using?

notveryhappyjack 04-07-13 01:46 AM

using a FD tps.

I made the trip down to Vancougar to go visit Matt. We spent some time working on the idle. finally got something I'm happy with. 1000rpms and the car does not even shake, it is very smooth. Also changed the fuel mapping for the 2,000 - 3,600rpm range so that cruising is more responsive. Really happy with the way the car is operating :)

What are the benefits of using the FD TPS instead of an FC? I've heard of this swap, just not sure why its useful.

And good to hear about the fuel mapping and idle being fixed, your car deserves it. Always cool to get something fixed you've been waiting on and get to see results that make you happy you spent the time fixing it :)

Lost compression last night. Going to remove the motor & disassemble. Initial thought is that a piece of debris fell into the lower intake while it was apart or debris was in the new fuel line. Bummer.

Removed the secondary fuel rail. Found this in the front secondary injector....Attachment 756928

Any recommendations to clean the fuel system? Already planning on having the injectors serviced & using new rubber hose.

ioTus 05-21-13 05:58 PM

Blow out the hard lines with an air compressor.

Witch Hunter performance here in WA for injector cleaning:
WitchHunter Performance - Injector Cleaning & Flow Testing Services

cost of the cleaning and flow-matching (which includes new seals and gaskets) is almost less than the cost of new seals and gaskets alone!!

What is that crap in there??

notveryhappyjack 05-21-13 06:03 PM

Witch hunter was a no brainer. New fuel filter also. I will take your advice with the air compressor.
The crap in the top of the injector was random oil /dirt gunk.

How fresh is your fuel tank? Worth pulling and opening it up, see how much rust is in there. If its decent but needs cleaning, get it boiled out. Radiator shop should be able to do that.

That an a you mentioned, all new soft lines, you should be good.

Btw man I don't know if I've ever mentioned this, but you have one of my absolute, all time favorite FBs. Has been for many many years.

highnitro12187 05-21-13 11:36 PM

all that gunk prolly came out of that fuel rail i gave ya(it was floating from bin to bin for about a year. i wouldnt worry too much about the tank and what not cause you didnt have a problem til you put the rail on.
