YEP! Another build thread!!!

sup everyone, I did an intro a while back and never thought of doing a build thread till now. I am always on the forums just never really post haha.

anyway here it goes ,

this is the car when I picked it up from a near by seller, 42k miles on it had a blown coolant seal. This was back in September of 2009.

car was previously modded with
power fc
full non-sequential twins/ all emissions stuff removed
550/1680 cc injectors
full exhaust
greddy pulleys
koyo radiator
Front mount intercooler
Apexi intakes
fuel pump rewire
and a bunch of wires that led to nothing .... which I had so much fun digging around the car getting them out... (that was sarcasm)

snuggled up in its new garage

the repairs and modding started right away

I don't really have many pics of the build during the winter time. I had the motor rebuilt by Banzai racing (thanks again Chris!) and fixed a couple issue the car had.

I also installed some stance coilovers, and fitted a st mays shotgun exaust.

Next up was wheels, I went with 18x9.5 et 38 front and et 15 rear enkie rpf1 wheels custom powdercoated black with a pearl (sold the wheels recently to someone off the forum)

After that I got some STRI gauges (boost, water temp, and oil pressure), which I put in my new gauge pod over the center speaker, an aem wideband, KGB fuel rails, and did a battery relocation to the bin behind the passenger seat. Also I fixed some of the wiring and cleaned random stuff up. I also painted my UIM and LIM silver engine paint.

This is how she was for the summer time as I broke her in

And here is the mod list for winter time....

Got a brand new 62/65 trim precision turbo single turbo kit from Sean at ASPEC, Thanks man for all the help and dealing with me coming by all the time haha.

I am upgrading the secondary injectors to 2200 cc injector dynamics injectors, I also have a kenne bell BAP to help my walbro pump. I have an AEM alcohol injection kit that I just finished installing. I put the tank in the trunk, pump nearby under the car. Also just sent out my UIM and LIM to get ceramic coated by CAPS in California. I have all my suspension pieces sitting around the garage getting ready for when I purchase my poly bushings. I have a lot more planned just can't think of it at the moment. Pictures will come really soon!

ALMOST FORGOT!! New wheels just came in.... 18x9 and 18x10 ADVAN rgII wheels, et29 front and et25 rear, going to be running 245/35-18 and 265/35-18 Michelin PS2 tires . That is all for now thanks for reading.

Haha yea the car wasnt running yet when I took the pic!! I was just test fitting the wheels and rolled the car out for a test drive, hence why the lugs were missing.

my ceramic coated parts are finally in!!! had a quick question is it ok that the part the attaches to the motor is also ceramic coated?? here is a pic

here is the UIM after ceramic coating

CAPS ceramic coating did the work and I am really happy with it, on top of that it didn't cost to much the whole thing was 190 bucks including shipping!!! for both UIM and LIM!!!

The turbo is a 62-65 trim turbo to answer the above question.

i think its fine... the ceramic is so thin i doubt id make a difference... when i ceramic coat turbos i generally coat a little into the housing so the flange does get cc as well...

[.

Had a customers car who I could not track a boost leak down on to save my life. TO4R etc, and it turned out when he had the LIM powder coated they Powder coated the mating surface of the LIM where it mates to the block. Car would boost to about 6-8 psi and refuse to go higher.

After exhaust all other efforts I removed the turbo to replace his LIM gasket and found the issue.

I would grind off the ceramic coat and you will have nothing to worry about.

Build looks great but change the color of the new wheels. Maybe its my old age(27) but why do people refuse to run polished, silver/polished, or gunmetal/polished any more?

The wheels will be powder coated eventually. Getting these advans in a color other then gold is kinda hard haha. What do you recommend I grind it down with? I'm guessing sandpaper won't work to well?

A wire brush on a an angle grinder should do the trick.

The powercoater should be able to media blast them for you before they coat.

im no pro but ceramic coating and powder coating are two completely different things...

ceramic coat is applied by spraying it on with a paint gun... i personally use an air brush gun.. it applies VERY thin... on the other hand powder coating you are essentially baking powder on to a part and melting it to adhere onto the surface... powder coating is definitely thicker than ceramic coating.

IMO a wire brush/grinder would do more harm then not.... isnt that part machined? id be more worried wire brushing/grinding it and leaving too many scratches and grooves in it...

just my .02 but what do i know, im still learning.......

Im familiar with both PC and Ceramic coating. I have used a wire brush to clean UIM/LIM mating surfaces for years without issue. Dont use a a braided wire and use common sense and it is a very quick effective way to ensure the mating surface is clean and smooth.

Glad to see you started a build thread! If you do paint the Advans, go with the same color on the RPF1's. It looked great on your car and now mine too

just an update on what i have done so far this weekend.

I got rid of my powersteering, just looped the line for now one day ill do the maval thing.

Installed the single turbo kit and all my new block off plates. Finished hooking up all the random vacuum stuff for the boost a pump and aem alcohol injection.

Now all that is left is my poly bushings, polish my thottle body and do intercooler piping and she will be all set for the tune in spring. Really hoping for around 380-400 whp.

OOOO and before i forget i picked up another car.... a 91 Mitsubishi mighty max pick up that is slammed to the ground and has a rotary and a welded diff dope!!

tires mounted on back wheels. Might be selling the fronts for different sizing.

Bushings are in!! YEA!!!

before and after of the control arm. Only took about 5 minutes an arm with a wire brush. Now i need to decide what color to paint them... wanted to go purple but wheels are gold so don't want people to think its a Lakers thing haha.
