After a wash and getting some rubber off the side of the car and cleaning it up a bit

Attachment 655732

Engine still needs a wash and some attention but all in due time

Attachment 655733

Meaty brakes and SSR wheels look lovely

Attachment 655734

After the wash we started stripping the exhaust side of the engine to take the manifold off as there was a slight exhaust leak and the seals have perished in the turbo so it was smoking quite badly.:(

Car should be back on the road in a week or two. Needs a good polish and a general once over and then I will be happy with it:icon_tup:

Thanks for looking guys will update soon

SA3R 12-02-13 07:04 PM

Nice looking car :)
Good luck!

RE-Amemiya 12-02-13 08:26 PM

Looks pretty clean; congrats!!!

waz_05 12-10-13 03:10 AM

Thanks alot guys.!!

Turbo has been diagnosed and seems gonna cost over 600$ to fix here in South Africa. So I purchased the same turbo same size wheels and housings just not the ball bearing type for $650 new:nod:

Gonna be installing it in a few hours. Will take pics of old and new turbo:icon_tup:

Dowah 12-10-13 07:14 AM

Please do! What's is the estimated power output with the current map? :)

89fc3sgtu 12-10-13 07:34 AM

Other than the engine bay is looks super clean. And i like the matching bike

ZE Power MX6 12-10-13 12:30 PM

That's an interesting filler cap.

New Turbo, and odds and ends

6 Attachment(s)
Hi guys a bit of an update for now..

Turbo was replaced as the turbo that came with the car's seals were buggered. My father and I tackled it ourselves one week and got it done!

New and old

Attachment 652941

Took the cooling panel plate that came with the car off as it looked all bent and cut skew. So we marked off some areas that needed to get cleaned up and cut more and got a new one made

Attachment 652942

Shot of the interior

Attachment 652943

Took the car the other day to get the street tyres put on as it was on a set of Bridgestone semis

Hi guys been a while,

Eventually got the car insured and been using it :ylsuper:

Car has been going very well. Been to a few shows with it and to a Dyno day.:icon_tup:

The only problem i have come accross is the turbo oil drain hose is leaking so I am going to sort that out today

Car also went in to get screamer pipe done as the dumptube went back in to the downpipe when I bought the car.

People checking out the engine bay once I opened the bonnet

Sadly we will need to modify a few things before it can fit.

Going to a photoshoot this weekend so hopefully they snap some nice pictures of the car. Also going to raise the boost a bit in the next week.

Cheers for now

RuffRx7 02-18-14 02:47 PM

Didnt put it on the dyno! Will go do a power run somewhere next week. Want to turn up the boost but not sure if I must without it being tuned at that boost

waz_05 02-20-14 04:22 AM

Going to a dyno evening later on will put the car on the rollers and see what power its making:icon_tup:

find one that is made out of metal. Tons of aftermarket options. Search AST in the classifieds

waz_05 12-03-14 09:00 AM

Hi guys been a while

The car has been running so leka im very happy with it! Gonna turn the boost up soon though[emoji1]

I also got stuck in to the boot the other day! I had to throw the biscuit spare wheel away as it woouldnt fit over the BBK! Got a spare 18" wheel but now the boot carpet wouldn't fit over the wheel so made our own boot carpet.

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/02/u2y6aju3.jpg

Did the ducting for the oil coolers in black the other day as the aluminium colour looked kak

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/02/ujy3ajej.jpg

While I was at it I sprayed the mesh in the sideskirts and the fender in black as the guys who sprayed the car didnt remove the mesh when spraying the car! Looks waay better now!

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/02/u6etysyz.jpg

Got some llumar tint on the windows as well! Was getting 3rd degree burns driving without window tint

Went to a Dyno Day the other day and ran the car at around 9:30pm

Will get a pic of the graph asap..

Made 241KW and around 323NM on the wheels at 0.8bar boost

Attachment 634586

waz_05 12-03-14 09:21 AM

After a year of ownership I started getting random overheating issues after using the car all day it is fine then next thing it overheats.

Turns out one of the waterseals have gone causing the overheating and spilling of water out the overflow tank when switching the car off.

Motor is partially stripped down so far. Will have the engine out in the next few weeks ready to be sent in by January for full rebuild which will include large dowels, oil mod, full bridgeport, 1600cc secondary injectors etc.

While engine is out pipes will be polished and hoses replaced as well as spraying the engine bay flat black.

Plans besides the engine for the next few months:

- Bee*R power builder (Purchased)
- Polished Intake manifold and other odds and ends
- New pulley kit
- Pineapple racing idler pulley
- Carbon spoiler blade
- Carbon fender ducts
- FEED knock off FRP sideskirts (Purchased)
- Prosport quadpod
- New Boost, Fuel press, Water temp, and Wideband gauges
- Hot water labs reverse lights
- Hot Water labs Bumper guard
- NRG quick release
- Nardi/Personal grinta steering wheel
- Modify Koni strutts to go abit lower
- Rear RE-A replica rear diffuser
- Neochrome lug nuts
- Takata harnesses
- Sleepy eye controller

Thats it for now guys

Engine is out eventually :troll:

Cant wait to send it off for fresh rebuild :driving:

Attachment 634015

Attachment 634016

Will tear it down tonight and inspect it. Seals look fine through the exhaust ports but I am 99% sure the coolant seals are shot!

RuffRx7 12-17-14 10:52 AM

Who is rebuilding for you Warren?

7speed 12-18-14 01:27 AM

Some really sweet rolling shots you got there! Is the tuner scene alive an well on that side?

Sweet bro yeah the rolling shoots look sick:icon_tup:

The tuner scene is alive this side but more the new cars getting modded like the Audi RS3, Golf GTI etc

There are a few rotary tuners around here and quite a few rx7's

Here is a vid of the most well known rotary tuner

I had the same problem here in Canada. I had to order all my parts from the states. Its really shitty especially because we have really high duty frees here. My advice when you order something, make sure to tell the seller to put lower value than actual cost on the customs form. This way you pay less duties on your parts.

Oh ok thanks bro. Yes it costs a bit to ship but luckily Canada is so close to USA so it doesnt cost you as much!

Markus1981 01-05-15 08:33 AM

You forgot the HKS twin power ignition in your mods ;)

7speed 01-05-15 03:37 PM

Another South African! Man, you guys need a sub-section. That 8-second car is pretty wild too. Do you guys have meets much? If I come out in June/ July I'd like to see some of these rides in person.

not really necessary at that boost level. 0.8 bar = 11.60 psi

ya know you are kinda wasting your turbo (and mods) by staying at that level. The GT35R is really beginning to wake up at .8 bar... 2141Kw~ 323RWHP.

He has got already a twin power he just forgot to list it ;)

Boost is at .8 bar as I bought the car with it boosting .4bar

I turned the boost up by changing the vacuum line on to a different nipple on the synapse wastegate.

After engine rebuild we will be connecting the Greddy boost controller and cranking up the boost.

Its just been kept at .8 bar for safety reasons as most tuners dont like to tune the Apexi power FC over here.
