Ultimate Street build NZ

For my 4th rx7 FD I thought id mix it up a bit.
From my first 92 (which I still have) Monster bridgeported single turbo, full cage 355kw. My 2nd 95 full street trim Single turbo Bridgeport Vmount 320Kw And the 3rd a 92 completely stock sequential twin turbo with 39k on the clock I wanted to build something with the best of all worlds. I want something fast but also economical and tame when I want it to be,,, So this car will be set up around a factory ported engine for excellent drivability with a lot of boost .... also with the goal of maxxing out the factory ports and seeing what kind of numbers they will produce. Ultimate Goal is to see that 500hp show up on the Dyno Sheet. Starting of with the rolling shell I picked up for 7K NZD. It used to have a PPRE built 20b inside. I picked it up for a steal. Custom gunmetal paint job. Tein super street suspension. Under car surge tank with external pump and larger hardlines to engine. An Awesome DIN gauge set up. Oil P Oil T and Water T KAAZ 2 way LSD Fitted Cwest shirts and rear bumper with a MAzdaspeed nosecone. Attachment 652735 Attachment 652736 Attachment 652737 I dropped the orange wheels in favour of some black chromes. Attachment 652738 It will run on a Link G4 Rx computer and x4 BOSCH coils. The Turblown TDX61 RX-7 Turbo System as well with twin turbosmart wastegates. Attachment 652739 Attachment 652740 Attachment 652741 Xcessive LIM and Iconel heatsheild. Will have 825cc Primaries and x4 1000cc Secondaries. Xcessive sump. Attachment 652742 Attachment 652743 I opted for a different Intercooler set up then ive used before aswell. I picked up the Pettit SMIC ... I am unsure of its performance in my set up ... all my other intercoolers have been custom mid and V mounts.. but I do like its quality construction and it had its own fan... also shorter intake piping. Downsides are mainly if the it will get enough with the tiny duct... this will be addressed. Attachment 652744 Attachment 652745 |
Wow damn, looks good! You must love FDs to have so damn many of them..
Will be following this build for sure. |
Looking good!

Nice build - good to see a kiwi RE build on here.
I am building up a 13B in my garage as a side project. I saw this FD on trade me - the price was pretty good wasn't it! The xcessive LIM is a good bit of kit, I found that I had to do some minor grinding of the runners 'mouths' to get a nice line up with the factory upper LIM. Same at the engine port end (more needed there to align) you may want to check that on yours. All the best with the build, Rusty |
Looks very nice so far! I love the black chrome wheels.

Thanks everyone.
Heres my Rotating assembly. I got the entire system including the clutch and fly wheel balanced. Heres his FB https://www.facebook.com/RotorsportR...neBalancingLtd Attachment 652393 Attachment 652394 Attachment 652395 Attachment 652396 The sheet with just how unbalanced the set up could have been if it wasn't addressed. Also my rotor weights are identical. Will be using Atkins 2mm Apex seals and 2mm Solid corner seals. All new seals, springs and bearings on everything. Xtreme Rotaries Street pulley Kit. Attachment 652397 Full function engineering trigger wheel. Attachment 652398 RE Amemiya edition twin plate OS Giken clutch and flywheel combo , completely rebuilt with carbon kelvar plates. I have received a less than perfect LIM which I am disappointed with and Xcessive don't seem to care all to much. I have brought a lot of aftermarket stuff for my car ... Mstly from overseas and it seems over half of them don't really care when you have an issue. Im in another country so who cares is what I seem to get. Maybe I am a bit forward.. usually in NZ I will be good friends with anyone I deal with and talk face to face. As much as I dotn want to rubbish anyone in our community who obviously go hard and make and develop these products.. Don't release them unless they are perfect. No one wants to pay good money,, plus currency conversion and then a shipping charge and then 2week shipping just for a sub par part to arrive that needs work. Heres some examples. Attachment 652389 Attachment 652390 How did this happen? All the other ports need shaping... so what you say? get your hands dirty luke and clean it up. No one sees this anyway. Good point now see this... Attachment 652391 This is a very large hole completely thru the manifold. Unsure to Devcon it or get it welded. This is another example.. I picked up a Rotary Xtreme Throttle body Attachment 652392 http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/...pseedb5fcc.jpg There was metal shavings all inside it. Do ppl check these items? I sold this cause I straight up didn't trust it. Although id like to Try one in the future. Im not angry im just disappointed. All these products look great on the internet. Don't take this the wrong way keep innovating and keep this great scene alive... just be %100 when especially when you send something overseas where an issue cannot be easily resolved. |
I love that clutch and pulley kit. Sorry to hear about the bad parts, it sucks to finally get them and they turn out to be less than expected.
|
Just get that hole welded... I have never seen that before!
Dirty parts is nothing new. On the other hand, we not only pressure test, but clean all those turbo cooling lines before shipping them :). |
bro my manifold was like that too, caused from the casting process, bolt a LIM gasket to that bad boy and scribe out where you need to port it out to. also you can take heaps of meat out of them to get a much smoother track into the the intake runner, best off starting with a carbide cutting tool on a pneumatic die grinder then put them in a drill and use that for a better finish. i also used a flex hone after that on mine to get an even better result.
hope that helps, Brad. |
Feeling you... I just expect any part I get from out side AU/NZ to be sub par dirty and lacking after sales care
Liking the build so far |
Where did you get the Inconel heat shield? I have tried to find them....

Update!
I got my stationary gears back with new bearings. Attachment 651310 Time to build the block. No pictures , nothing to special went on. I would have liked to get a photo of the lightened rotors and solid corners seals etc in the housing with eccentric shaft but I forgot. So just like your favourite infomercial. Heres one I prepared earlier! Attachment 651311 With the short block assembled I proceeded to add all the good stuff. Attachment 651312 Fitted the Xcessive Sump. fitted very nicely. Attachment 651313 Attachment 651314 Added the Xcessive LIM with Defect Hole in the runner welded up. It Cost me a hours labour at $92NZD inc GST. Attachment 651315 Heated wrapped the exhaust system with some Lava rock Titanium heatwrap. Cant figure out if the wording is all just a gimmick but claims to support 25% more heat than normal wraps upto 2000 Degrees Attachment 651316 A shot of the Xtreme Rotaries underdrive pulley kit Attachment 651317 An ass shot for all you perverts, you can see her pilot bearing hole :P Attachment 651318 I know you want some of that! Picked up a second hand Turboasmart Eboost2 for $615 NZD pretty good deal I reckon, in good nic. Attachment 651319 And A turbosmart 1200 Fuel reg. Attachment 651320 The car was supposed to go to the tuner this weekend. For the wire up and final tune. And then this happened. Attachment 651321 Dissapointment. |
dang - whats you plan now? back to factory or something Xcessive sump looks good - I am finishing up the welding of my custom one this weekend - volume difference is huge! Good luck solving that issue. Rusty.

I've got a Full Function Engineering fuel rail kit that's going to come machined specifically for the injector dynamics injectors .... as opposed to the Xcessive rail where I have to use 10mm rubber spacers.
So they are up for sale if anyone is interested? The primary rail would suit someone using a factory Lower intake manifold as it fits inbetween the factory secondary rail. And maybe the Xcessive rail for some who doenst have one ?? Lol Also I'd like to know if anyone is using any aftermarket ignition boxes. For example the MSD 6AL on the street with a similar set up ????!!! |
i just run the GM d585? LS2 truck coils off my G4 Xtreme ecu bro, seem fine so far and cheap too! ebay usa is the go
also you'll love the FFE gear, its great shit. Brad. |

Fitted the turbo beanie.
Full function primary file rail Upper intake manifold and greddy elbow. Also spent a lot of time prepping the water pump and housing for new gaskets just to be 100%. Check it. Some of alloy stuff looks pretty ghetto. I think this imported engine block may have been involved in the tsnami??!! Attachment 650350 Attachment 650351 Attachment 650352 Attachment 650353 Oh and a racing beat oil gauge sand which plate . Attachment 650354 Now I need some help. Where an I pick up an alloy oil filler neck? It also needs to be compatible with the Xcessive manifold which repositions the throttle body touching the plastic factory neck. Thanks in advance ! |
I believe IRP has one for sale at discounted prices.

Haha, damn! Might as well make another hardline. :p something like that would forever bother me.
|
On the oil neck front - people have heated the plastic ones with a heat gun and 'bent' them forward...I got the same problem, but am using a WRX oil filler neck and and bit of fabrication(of course!)
Turbo bits look great! Top work. Rusty |
