Christmas goodies
Got some more parts in from Turblown! EFR8374 .92 IWG and the rest of the kit, along with turbo speed sensor.
I used the double-nut method to get the studs installed to a torque spec of Gutentight. I used some nuclear grade anti-seize here as well.

Install of Turbo Shaft Speed Sensor
For some reason, I was a bit intimidated at taking apart this turbo. Prior to disassembly, I noticed that one of the compressor wheel fin tips looked like it has been nicked during assembly at the factory. I am assuming it will be just fine though.
On to the scary part (I know some of you pros will laugh that I was apprehensive about this haha)
On the operating table.
1/4 inch drill, medium speed. Being mindful not to rock the drill bit too much since the o ring seals near the top.
Before cleanup.
My tubing de-burr tool came in very handy.
Install time. Used a small amount of 100% silicon oil to lube the o-ring.
What it looks like from the inside.
Done.

Well... ****
So on my never ending quest to never finish this car, I have come to the decision to either sell this engine, or open it back up and swap out the lightened/induction hardened/balanced 9.7:1 rotors I have in there for some 9:1's. Really wanting to enjoy the EFR turbo and be able to try out a 7670 in the future if I don't like the response of the 8374.
I guess the paranoia of the compression ratio has finally infected me as well.
Decisions decisions. Hopefully I don't have to spread too much on this completely unnecessary rebuild.

Nate, I have vivid memories of clearancing and building this engine. I may be biased, but I say you hang onto it and try it out. It's a very nice tight engine with top quality parts and port work.
I'll go check out the thread you have in the 3rd Gen section and weigh in. People's opinions are all well and good on proper/safe boost levels, but you won't really know what works with your particular combination until you try

With the 8374, and how quickly boost comes on, I think my safety strategies are going to be key in not blowing an engine.
Hoping to be able to run a low boost setting (approx 10psi) and a high boost with auxiliary injection around 15-18.
Let me know what you come up with. So far I have about 80% bad news.
