-cool garage
-thats one big *** vice, love it
-that "duct extension" looks awesome
im assuming your statement about intake temps is with the modified IC? good to hear its working out well for you
when you hacked the IC, what process did you use to make sure there were no shavings left inside?

^^ To answer your question Muibubbles, I cut it with a grinder and washed it out with a high volume hose (1.5" I.D.) I also wiped it out with a rag till it was clean. I do not think there is any pratical way to remove every possible shaving. I have not had any problems and it still works fine.
Thanks Fiz-e

Time for an update.
So after I put the intercooler in I used the car for a few weeks and did not do anything to it. Then on my way home from a meet in queens my tire decided to shread itself. It was about 2AM and all of a sudden the car started to shake. An exit was close so I got off and pulled into the gas station to try to add air to the tire. It did not work
My looser ***
So I had to think fast. There was no way I was leaving my car at the gas station till the morning so I could get a tire. My spare does not fit because of the BBK. And I am not calling a tow truck to tow it.
So what did I do? I had my girlfriend google the lug bolt pattern of my moms car(2006 mercury montego, I knew her spare was mounted on an 18" rim.) turns out it is the same! So I call my dad and wake him up, tell him to bring my moms car and a socket set. He does, then I go to put the tire on and the center bore on the mercury rim is too small. So I tighten up the lugs evenly, even though the face of the rim is not touching the face of the rotor hat. I was able to get them tight enough to drive the car. **** yea!
Here is the shreaded tire. No wonder why it would not hold air.

Because of the distroyed front tire i decided to swap my rear tires (255/40/17) to the front and mount up a set of 275/40/17 in the rears. I had to roll the fenders for the rears to clear.
I also figured out why my driver out side door handle was loose. When i took off the inside plastic cover I found that nut and stud sitting there. So I replaced the stud and nut and all is well. I nominate that for easiest FD fix ever. I did it in less than 5 min.
So moving on to Sept. I was talking to Goodfellafd3s about an upcoming track day and I was on the fence about attending it because I did not have water injection. So after thinking about it I decided to sign up and was committed.
A few months prior I purchased an Aquamist HFS-3 kit. I was just to lazy to install it.
Some how I have to get all this into my FD
After doing some searching and looking at where other people put their pumps I decided on an unconvental location. I put it here because it was easy.
The feed line adapter fitting that goes into the AI tank fits almost perfectly into the stock washer pump inlet location. I had to file the hole to make it slightly larger.
I mounted the Fast Acting Valve here because it was easy to do and was close to my injection location.
^AponOut!? No, just a tire re-tread in the middle of the LIE.

The gauge is just resting there.
A few notes about this install...... It is temporary! I know it is not perfect and not an ideal location for a pump. I am completely redoing my engine bay this winter I have some cool projects planed.

My first day at the track was so much fun I am definitely going to more events next year. A big thanks to Goodfella for the kick in the *** to go. I had a lot of fun hanging out with Goodfellafd3s, Bridgeported12a, Jhnrx7, Scrub, TitaniumTT, MLDoom, and Tig418
Here are a ton of pics from the two day event here https://www.rx7club.com/ne-rx-7-forum-30/road-race-track-event-njmp-lightning-sun-mon-oct-16-17-a-970885/page2/
Here are some notable ones I like
FD PASSING FERRARI! ( the driver was a beginner and did not want to crash daddys car.)
This one is particulary intresting. I was shfting from third to fourth when all of a sudden the engine revs went up like crazy! Oops, I went to second My instructer told me "In BMW world, that is what we call a money shift" My response was "why, because it usually costs a lot of money?" Gotta love rotarys. He wanted me to pit and check the car for problems. I just steped on the throttle, the car made boost and sounded fine. I stayed out and finished my session.

Loving your build thread John, great reading
Man oh man you are lucky the tire made it through the two race days...... imagine if that happened at the end of the main straight? APON OUT?!?! indeed
Are you picking up a pair of Azenis 615 to match the fronts? Might be a good idea to pick up a fresh set of four tires that'll make you more faster on track

Kensin, Do you have a power FC? If so, it is basically the same principal to change what parameters you monitor. You press the "up" arrow to show max values.
Rich,
That blow out happened in August.
The rear tires I put on at that time were 275/40/17. I had them laying around for about 2 years. I the moved the rear tires to the front 255/40/17. After reading the tech requirements (have adequate traction for wet track) I was nervous that the used fronts would not pass because they were on the wear bars (0% life left). So I bought two new tires for the front. So I have the falken azenis rt-615 on all four wheels still with 90%+ life left. I hate those tires. I bought the fronts because it bothers me when the front and rear tires are different and I did not want to get different tires because I was used to these and felt it was safer for me to track with tires I was familiar with.
As you know I may be moving to 18" rims next year. If that does not happen then I will definitely be buying much better tires.

Ah gotcha, guess I should have paid more attention to the date stamps on the posts. I thought something was fishy b/c I seemed to remember that you had wide rears.....

UPDATE
Nothing to update , just been collecting parts for the winter build and enjoying the cold weather drives. Have one more paper to do for school, then will start the winter tear down.
