Prawln Build Thread

Hey,

Just thought I would make a build thread so I'm able to look back on all the tears and joy i've been having with my rx7.

When i first got the RX7 S7. Nothing had been done to it what so ever apart from a boost gauge and oil cap lol. I got it off an older couple (late 40's) with kids. I swapped my Mitsi Evo 5 that had 160,000km on the clock for the RX7 that had 37,000km on the clock. And this is how it first looked.

Once owning it for alittle while I decided to look into getting different wheels for it, I got offered cheap rims with types so decided to just buy them (not that i look back on it i dont really like them)

After this my a mate of mine wrote his RX7 off going down a cliff and got paided out by the insurance company and they gave his car back also so I brought the engine off him as a starting point for my "massive" plans.

Garret/Turbonetics T04B/E hybrid turbo

Once the engine was dropped it we had a few dramas with having the wrong series PFC ECU but managed to find someone that would do a straight swap for the correct one.

I then put a bodykit and got it painted the day before a car show (left it to the last min dam it!) and got Ksport adjustables. Bodykit is a Bomex kit, Didnt end up getting the rear bumper one as it would hit the ground each time i lauched.

I decided it was time to so something about the audio/media situation in the car. So I decided to go for a Carputer (car computer) setup.
On the carputer it will have Music, Videos, GPS, datalogger / be able to change mapping of the ECU

I relocated the headunit to the top vent so a touchscreen could be placed in where the headunit double din is.

Power and Harddrive activity lights

Red and black buttons to power on/power off and restart the car computer.

Placement of the headunit

Touch screen installed

I havnt been able to do much after i installed the car computer and my partner is now complaining about her skyline not being turboed and how she wants it to be.... sigh....

But i have managed to relocate the battery into the boot and change over some waterlines etc with nicer looking ones and put in an alloy AST. Ill post up a better picture later.

Ok so i havnt done a hell of a lot lately! My partner ended up deciding on my behalf that i HAVE to put a turbo engine in her car.. so i put a RB25DET into it and now she is happy so i am now able to work on my car again.

I decided to change the intercooler piping colour as everyone does chrome/polished these days so just want to be different. I decided to do it the colour "Aquarius" It's like a teal green / greenie blue colour.

It's not finished yet but the picture below is an idea.

I think next on my list is to just clean the hell out of my engine bay! its just so dirty!

On another note, does anyone no of any good Slimline radiator fans that would be ok to replace the standard fans? reason being is the standard ones are just so bulky and massive!

Um all up it was a few hours work. The hardest part was moving the headunit to the top vent. I ended up installing the Carputer in the boot between the back strut brace and subbox so it was our of the way then just had to run all the wires to the screen in the front and the on and off buttons. Was abit of work but was well worth it!
