nice update!

some input:

1. i highly recommend getting some 4.5" "skinnies" on two FD/T2 spare wheels and running those on the front to counteract the wobble effect from the ET streets. if you haven't been to the track yet, you may lose bowel control when you shift from 2nd to 3rd gear with those cushy ET streets in the back and stiff responsive tires in the front.

2. why did your engine blow? you can't honestly say "well, it had over 400whp so it just didnt last long." i always tell people not go go over 16 psi on 93 octane gasoline with no AI.

I've though about that. I need to come up with a solution. I have the other two FD wheels that i could put something bias ply on.

I run water injection. Will probably start using a blend of methanol. There was a point in time where i started having questionable symptoms. The vac line popped off my FPR. Got it back on immediately, but it was acting wonky at idle, but otherwise seemed fine. It was almost so subtle that I just attributed it to such cold plugs on stock coils. I knew something was up when it dyno'd at just shy of 400whp. Not 3 days later it went catastrophic.

I've been thinking of switching from the PowerFC, but mostly looking at the adaptronic.

I did some work to the part throttle fuel map that has been driving me bonkers (its been pig rich in part throttle). Much happier with it, but still some work to do yet.

No trades... yet. :-P

Looking for a HPP 2in1 so I can launch the ***** off it. Not so sure the Banzai Brace is up to the task, although, I have seen others do what I'd like to do with success on the banzai brace.

Got my HPP brace in, still on a stock diff (in the process of rebuilding another housing with a TII diff). Also put in a Banzai transmission crossmember.

First test and tune of the year:

Socks' Rx7 - YouTube

Had two decent runs:

Other than the launch, this was a pretty clean run. This is the one on video.
60...... 1.91
330.... 5.10
594.... 7.22
1/8..... 7.68
mph.... 96.84

this run, the clutch was slipping a little more than optimal. think it was a touch warm from the burnout. I need to get a line lock so it will stay in the water until the tirespeed is a little higher.

60....... 1.68
330..... 4.96
594..... 7.13
1/8...... 7.61
mph..... 94.22

Was the best 60, best 1/8, but you can tell the clutch was slipping because of the mph. Had it held better during shifts, that would have been my 7.30 run that i was hoping for at 20psi.

Personal best run 3/13/14:

60...... 1.5350
330.... 4.6496
594.... 6.7465
1/8..... 7.2091
mph.... 97.27

Hit the et I wanted on pump gas (goal was 7.20-7.30) and juuuuust shy of the mph goal (98mph) but not enough to worry about it. Unfortunately, this one wasnt on video, but heres a 7.44. Still getting alot of clutch slip on shifts once i make 2-3 passes. 7.2 was the 2nd pass, 7.44 was the 3rd (last)

7.44 at 94mph

Matched my personal best in much hotter and more humid weather, a win in my book.

60' 1.54
330' 4.63
594' 6.74
660' 7.20 @ 96.84

DA- 2836'

I looked up the DA for the last time I ran a 7.20 (on 3/13/2014), and the DA was 177'.

she's done a 7.14 and 7.16 at a best mile per hour of 98.8. those times were done on the lower power level on that dyno. I cant wait to do some testing on the new tune.

hoping for 6's and over 100mph. i expect thats not a lofty goal at all.

So... apparently this hasnt been updated in a LONG time.

not long after the 475whp dyno, the front dowel near the oil feed for the turbo.

so i pulled the motor

In the process of getting it to the guy who builds my engines, I found out he had a semi peripheral port, fully balanced, clearanced, doweled shortblock sitting at his shop. I scooped it up for a deal with a ProJay MTBA intake setup.

I wasnt crazy about the intake setup. I had to use 8 dummy injectors (since all 4 of my injectors fit on the lower rail), and the primary injectors pulled off the block and up into the manifold turned out to be a nuisance.

So I scooped up an xcessive manifold and had it modded by Chips for the semi-p ports.

That setup got dialed in to about 515whp. Ran a 6.89 at 101mph.

So, 6's were kind of "that point" for me. I knew I was pushing it as far as ET and MPH with no roll bar setup. So I did this guy from Samberg:

Its the 6 point with removable door bars. Whether its "legal" for the tracks I run at or not, its enough for them to not boot me out on test and tune nights.

I also only really ever expected 6.9x out of the 6266 at that boost level... so "the new goal" changed.

Picked up a Turblown cast manifold with an IWG EFR 9180.

Tigged up a 3.5" downpipe for it:

Still in the process of dialing it in. On the dyno it didnt want to hold more than 20psi up top, the way the boost control setup was on a 14psi spring. I just finished putting a 21psi spring set in it, and changed the way the boost controller was plumbed, so it shouldnt have any issues holding the 30-32psi I plan to run all the way to redline. It did make 20psi at 3500rpm and 30psi at 4000rpm though, which is pretty impressive for a turbo i expect to near 700whp when all is said and done.

I also played around with a hood exit exhaust:

I'll probably make one for the EFR too, but not just yet.

Some other things I did in the process of the 9180:

CJ Motorsports Dual Hanger
2 Aeromotive Stealth 340lph pumps
Haltech Platinum Sport 1000 ECU
Added 2 ID2000's

Nice update. Are you on the stock transmission? If so, how is it holding up?

I am on a stock pettit racing rebuilt transmission.

I broke the output shaft of the original transmission. It had seen 125k miles and alot of drag racing though. When that happened, I put an aluminum driveshaft in it, in combination with the tilton valve, i hope that reduces the shockloading enough to prevent the same failure.

I also plan to step down to 26x10.50 tires, from the 26x11.50. The 11.50's are just too much for my car I believe. between spinning the clutch, or just dead hooking, theres not much middle ground with them in comparison to the 10.50's.

Its too bad you were up sold on a haltech because of a mis diagnosed tuning issue.

Looking forward to your results with the higher base spring pressure.

I was able to hold 33psi with my 9180 IWG with a 15psi base spring on a turbosmart single port actuator to 6500RPMS in 4th gear on my SP 13B.

While I dont want to get into some of those details, there are some things about each ecu that are done better than the other. I like the FFS/2-step that was built into the adaptronic. While the haltech has launch control settings (and admittedly, I havent even tested any of them), the adaptronic setup was a little more innate. The boost control on the Haltech on the surface, appears more well thought out (again, havent done anything with it to know whether that means it actually works better or not).

I will use this as an opportunity to compare for the crowd. At this point... I'm more familiar with the adaptronic, so things seem easier on the wari software, but once I'm more familiar with the Haltech ECU manager, I'll comment back in about it.

Nice downpipe!

Could you tell me where you sourced your 3.5" SS long radius bends from?

I always have a hard time finding nice long radius bends like that 1st bend off the EFR in your new downpipe.

For that downpipe I used two of these:

Do you have a dyno sheet you could show us on the new Semi p-port motor with the 9180?

I would love to be able to compare your two porting options with the same turbo.

Ah, so the dyno chart above in post # 61 was on 6266 and sideport only?
