thanks^^

sadly the project is Offically on hold... :(

ran out of funds.... well thats what happens when your building a fucking street/track monster with no job lol...

thankfully i have 90% of whats needed :D

i should have the motor dropped in the car by next week, waiting on my custom motor mounts :D

Monkman33 06-10-09 03:15 PM

I'm just curious, if you are only running 11-13 psi boost, and only aiming for less than 400 hp... why not use a smaller turbo and get faster spool out of the deal?

well the GT35R doesnt have alot of lag(depending on the hotside i get). , i have a lot of friends running a similar set up on there fds on stock porting.. and boost lag is minimal.
soo, since i have a 13b-re with a large streetport and ported housings... so i will be expelling enough from the exhaust to keep the turbo spooled. :D

If that's your perspective. If you are not planning on using the turbo into its real power range, then I see no point in having it. Might as well have a wider powerband with a different turbo, that starts earlier.

But that is just my opinion. Your build is coming along very nicely. And yes, unemployment has been eating many project budgets lately.

Keep up the good work.

Use 2 of the synapse BOV's recirculate one on the hotside of your intercooler back into the intake pipe (post filter/ pre-turbo) the first one will help keep the 35r spinning between gears when shifting.

Place the other one on the IC's cold side piping with a small breather filter (this will act as a turbo/ IC bypass) allowing your car to have throttle response damn near that of a N/A motor.

Do that and your boost will come as fast as a smaller turbo, but you'll still have the option to tune up for bigger power down the road.

mono4lamar 06-11-09 10:22 PM

Who did your lapping? Did they nitrate afterward? Looking good... :)

mdpalmer 06-11-09 11:01 PM

Hey Jamie it's Mike I met you at the track a few weeks ago at Mazfest (I have silver FD with the blown shock that day at the track). Good luck with the car and setup, not like you need it :) You're going to shit your tight pants when you first get the thing out on the track at speed, these cars are so much fun. I wish I had the $$$ for a single turbo swap right now  Keep us posted, love the pics.

since im aiming for high hp, and im going to use a PFC.

is the hks twin power compatible with the pfc?

and

should i run the hks twin power, so that way spark doesnt start breaking up???

yes and yes.

Also, did you bevel your intake and exhaust ports? in the pictures it's hard to tell but it doesn't look like it.

i really appriciate all the feed back.. because im still learning as i go...

and all the info i get has been very helpful, and i really do appriciate it.

:bigthumb: good sheit jaime. you go a long way from the beginning we were exposed to the rotary community. keep it up bro! you got my support until you blow that damn motor to kingdom come!

GoodfellaFD3S 06-12-09 08:08 AM

IIRC you posted that you and your friend ported the motor correct? You need to smooth the transition as the apex seal/side seal passes over the exhaust/intake port and touches the closing port edge. If this isn't done it can lead to chipped/worn side seals and worn apex seals.

Not trying to rain on your parade, just making sure ;)

cptpain 06-12-09 09:50 AM

what did you use to get the rotors do damn clean?

ohhh okay, like i said ealier.. any feed back is helpful. i guessing we did that, because my friends shop(lucky7 racing) in Duarte CA, spec the motor, checked the porting .. and they said it was good. they cleaned it up.

but ill ask bout what you just mentioned.. thanks for the heads up:icon_tup:

Things are looking great!

I was considering the GT35R, until I called A-spec. I told him my goals were peak hp above 400, but with faster spool, willing to peak at 400, but I had an ego trip on the 400 number (even though it is relatively small compared to some of the monsters running these days.

A-Spec told me that the GT3574R (They said they just came out with a dual ball bearing version of this turbo about 6 months ago now) would spool faster than a gt35r but it would not be able to make as much peak power. However, it should still hit 400-450 depending on total car setup.

So that was my decision to go with a turbo that peaks out lower, for the added benefit of quicker spool... Now if only I could get that kit delivered to me. ;) They are a bit backed up on orders at the moment.

But your build is looking pretty damn nice.
