R&L Carriers are great, I've shipped 3 motors, and they always come through. Real cool when the tractor trailor shows up at your house to pick up a motor haha.

So heres a little update.. Had some spare time on the 4th of July and spent it doing what I love.. Putting in hours on my machine! Finally.. Got my fender Exactly how I want it.. This side took me roughly 10-12 hours embarrasingly. But it was my first time working on metal like this..and I did my best to smooth out all the little imperfections. My buddy told me that the filler/bondo shouldn't ever be more than a quarter of an inch thick...so do everything I can to make the base nice and smooth. Also, started with my Gold Thermal Adhesive Tape firewall. I was originally trying to keep a modest look to the engine bay.... But it seems that this function mod will totally prevent that. All the little ups and downs, creases and bends on the fire-wall make it hard to deal with. So after a couple small fails on templating and tracing.. My plan of attack was to cut 2x 6 inch strips of the tape and lay them in sequence. This way the tape would have maximum contact with the wall and it may not look as clean..but. it'll do what it was intended to do.. deflect heat. But I'm happy with the outcome.. and now I don't have to paint the fire-wall hah. The tape is pretty sticky though... I don't see it peeling off anytime soon. Time will tell. I've also stopped purchasing parts...as i'm waiting for my motor with howard.. and i'll be purchasing a couple housings for the build as well. But..I might be working on a few small fuel related things.. like my fuel filter placement etc.. Thats all for now!! Tape time: Roughly 5 Hours with 20 min left. one last pic... I need to win the lottery... haha I need the following things to be done in the next month and a half 1) Motor to be done 2) my radiator needs to be made 3) UIM needs to be made 4) Exhaust Mani needs to be fabbed 5) Exhaust System needs to be fabbed 6) Charge piping needs fabbed 7) Engine needs welding 8) I don't have wheels 9) I don't have any seats 10) Relocate relays etc 11) relocate water meth pump 12) And a whole lot more haha fuel pumps, misc tid bits, paint, fluids, tunning etc.. Right now I am done with looking at fittings. What a complete pain in the ARSE!!! I finally found the right fittings though.. but they're blue.. WHAAHHH WHAHHH WHAAHHHHH...:icon_tdow So i'm thinking of sanding them down? Not sure. You can use oven cleaner to remove the anodizing on the AN fittings. It will make them raw aluminum again. You're welcome. :)

So I started relocating my Fuel filter. I'm going to put it on the back side of the Rear sub-frame. I just got some 5/16 sized fuel line from NAPA and run it back wards. Heres the line I moved from the OEM fuel filter... It doubles backwards but doesn't even come close to kinking.

I'm pretty pissed off at myself guys... It took me about an hour to prep for my passenger side fender roll. Cut the inside well out, and roll the inner lip as no to crease anything. And I started my roll... This side came out 300% better than the drivers side.. I'm embarrassed completely.. So i'm not sure what I'm going to do exactly about the drivers side just yet.. All I could think of was work on it more.. Or cut out the whole quarter panel and start with a used one? I dont know.. We'll see. Anyways here's it at about 90% done. 14 1/4 inches form my coilover:

Wow, that's looking good.
Regarding the driver side, the good thing about metal is that you can usually keep working it even if you don't get it right the first time. I bet if you keep on it, you can get it pretty close to the passenger side. I don't think you're close to the point of needing a new quarter panel yet. |

^ I got it from pegasus racing.com there are a couple different kinds... forgot the exact brand but there was a difference in quality and price from my reasearch.. which of-course the higher priced one was the better quality..and the route I went. But anyways.. I did some work today.
I got my AN Fuel filter fittings in today from jegs.. so Went ahead and put them on my filter with the Gas safe teflon tape just to insure a snug leak free fit. http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/y...712_162619.jpg Did a nice simple loop using some extra fuel line I got from napa. OEM sized fuel line is in fact 5/16. So i had to order a -10AN to 3/8's fitting...then use a female 3/8's to 5/16ths push on tree <-- I think it's called something else but i'm really tired so I don't feel like looking it up.. sorry. hah... you know what I'm really effing tired.. i'm just gonna post some pics and type exactly what it was I did tomorrow morning.. New fuel loop http://i804.photobucket.com/albums/y...712_184526.jpg All nice and installed. I used thermal thermal protectant on the fuel filter because metal on metal never sits good with me.. lol, most fuel filter relocates ive seen use worm clamps...
if you figure out a design u want i might be able to fab it up for you real cheapppppp....anything i can think of still uses worm clamps lol |
