Pictureless update. Fritz sold me a pretty loaded engine that I'm really excited about. Pineapple racing built, with about a thousand miles or less on it. Small street port, new rotor housings, new bearings, oil and coolant passage modifications, and NRS ceramic seals. It's been stored for a good while, and was shipped over to Rich and Ihor at IRPerformance the day before thanksgiving for an inspection and soft seal refresh.

I have a ton more parts to save up for before I install the engine, but I'm one step closer! Woohoo!!!

Hopefully they can take some pics for me to add to this build thread.

Nice! I wondered who would end up with that engine.

Are you worried about housing wear with the ceramic seals?

i've been busy buying parts left and right, but no real time to work on the car yet. another set back is that my main computer has crashed, and its just not fun editing pictures and making posts on my slow travel notebook. i need to get around to fixing that first, which i hope to do so i can do my taxes!

hopefully i can put together a post sometime in Feb

So I've still been too distracted to fix my desktop computer, but decided too much time has passed for an update on the RX-7....and decided to work off my laptop.

Dating back to December 2011....I decided to treated the car well for XMAS. After importing and selling all sorts of tempting OS Giken, ORC, and Exedy twin disc clutches, I finally picked up a brand new Compe-R Exedy carbon twin disc clutch for the car (it's made a very worldly trip, hailing its final leg from Venezuela of all countries).

I also ordered 2 pieces of a new factory core support to fix up the "half assed" repair job I found the front end of the car to have experienced from its front end low speed parking tap in its previous life.

Other random pieces I've gathered for the car in the last 4 months are:

-stainless steel OMP lines by Karack.

-TurboJeff's 51R battery tray...boy, this piece is almost too good looking to actually use!

-NRS 2 piece 2mm ceramic seals (in preparation for a motor replacement)

-Mazmart RE-medy waterpump(also in preparation for a new motor)

-Greddy magnetic oil drain bolt

-new wheel well liners for both the right and left sides

-new differential drain bolt with washers (in an attempt to fix an annoying diff drip since the new LSD and Greddy cover install....)

-new throw out bearing

-new upgraded clutch fork

-deposit placed (finally) for a Ron Davis dual pass aluminum radiator with high flow Spal fans and a custom aluminum shroud(for my custom vmic setup)

Aside from the shopping list of parts,

I also finally got around to installing the Sakebomb 25-row 93+ vs. Setrab dual oil coolers, with the nylon braided lines....and I'm realizing how annoying it is (my own fault) that nothing lines up just "perfect" (reference Mocal thermstat clearance to the center OE aluminum bar brace), because my Noltec mounts sit the motor too high up. Might entertain the idea of replacing these mounts and trying something else when I turn things about with a new engine. Besides that, the installation and fitment of the Sakebomb parts are dead-on, and easy as pie (helps that I already have a/c and power steering removed). Everything lines up perfect, easy to install, and instructions were clear. I should have done this a long time ago!

I only find small windows of time to work on the car each weekend, so I haven't gotten around to actually priming the system and testing to make sure there are no oil leaks....so the front bumper is staying off in the meantime.

The bumper may stay off for a good while, because after testing the system for oil leaks....I will start fabbing up:

1) oil cooler aluminum shrouds
2) VMIC brackets for my Ron David radiator and Spearco intercooler
3) after getting everything test fitted and running.....pull the motor out and get it replaced 0_o

#3 is a doozy, because I'd also need to get the GT35R turbo kit ordered and set up, as well as a new wiring harness......I foresee delays. hahahaha. Additionally, while the engine is out, I intend to have the engine bay repainted and the front core installed.....

Financially I'm a bit set back because I picked up a new toy last weekend:

and it needs a little bit of work before i can unleash it to cone dodging duty

Awesome! I'll have to make sure everything is in order for the Miata and check it out next year. Looks like a ton of fun!

Picked up the Miata right now as a placeholder of "fun" while the rx7 continues to go under the knife. The fiancee and I have been splitting seat time in a 350z, but it'd be so much more fun if we didn't have to keep trading off on one car.

Some other car related but non rx7 related things I've been up to:

Allen Berg formula racing

and the Toyota Auto Museum in Torrance (gave an off-prem presentation there during work time!)

It's such a pity. I don't understand why you'd buy it to break, it's such a nice example
