Ed Rod 93 MB Touring Build

Hey whats up guys. Had my FD for 9 years now. I am the third owner. When I bought it the coolant seals went out shorty after. It sat up until the end of last year when I got a new motor from IR Performance. I could have done a rebuild but I did not have a decent shop locally. So for the install I went with OJ imports a shop in South Texas, charged me 3 k for an install . Terrible shop, charged me 3k for install and didn't change anything. Car is currently in limp mode leaking coolant from turbos oil. At this point I tried to reach the hoses but they are too entrenched for me with basic tools to reach. Next step is to send it off to Rotary Performance for a proper repair. Pics coming soon.

Nice. Please keep me posted on the rear diffuser. I am thinking the same shine auto sp I am curious how it goes for you. Which injectors did you go with? Or did you have the 850s cleaned up?

Welp here's a long due update gents. Took her in to a local shop after the LIM was f'd, verified by the carb cleaner test. Then they messed up the vacuum hoses set up by RP. Stock twins popped apart. Sent her back to RP. Stock twins were toast. Stock fuel tank was rusted out. [OJ imports in the rio grande valley is terrible. I paid the 500 to clean the tank did not do it.] Got a new tank, RP fuel rail, turbosource 363SXE entry kit. She's running good now, has a safe tune, needs a controller and a BOV for the big numbers.

Send it to Kilo Racing in St Cloud Fl. Trust me you will have no more problems. The problem with fd reliability is often the builders themselves. I have no stock nor do I work for Kilo. I have just been through the same type of b.s most fd owners go through when it comes to rotary shops. You are welcome to check my build if you like. All done by Kilo Racing. Turn key rx7

Appreciate the recommendation. I'll stick to rotary performance, they may be a little old school but they know these cars like the back of their hand also. Here's what she look like now. Ed Rod 93 MB Touring Build-oxed2sp.jpg

Deleted the CD player today, pretty straightforward just needed the ford key to get it removed. I got the cubby and keys from Nengun, got tired of the spare key look. For shipping from Japan the parts came in within 2 weeks. They also have the whole parts catalogs for S6,S7 and S8 FD's. Part numbers F1Y2-76-201 and F1Y2-76-201A are for the key. GD7B-76-201A DOES NOT FIT. I ordered it off amazon, let me save you the trial and error.

A coworker had some damage to her CRV really liked the work so went ahead and had the 99 spec bumper painted there. I told them it was poly and had no concerns about getting it done so I went ahead with it. Next step is Mazdaspeed undertray and CF lip. Probably get their CF hood later on. Called Rotary performance today, ready to move past the break in tune and see what the 362 SXE can do without pushing the stock internals too much. Oh ya add me on IG: Edrodmayne I post FD content regularly.

Just a quick update, summer temps are coming. I was doing burnout temps got a little too high. Took it out for a cruise today, stock IATs were going from 40c normal to 50c after pulls. Water temps for me hover at 84c although today they peaked at 90c after a couple of pulls, coming back to 84c after a good cruise.
