The Type X had a little bubble in the right side defroster vent, that indeed looks like a modern light sensor.
Those defrost grills like ot break, so don't force anything.
Would be very hard to replace the OEM.
(I actually have a spare Type X dash, with intact defroster grills (with that bubble), but I would not dare try to remove.)
The little "tween" piece between the defroster grills likes to break, but you can get new for $20.
Also the bolt that goes in under it tends to drop, so be mindful when replacing.

Today's update so far:
-Learned a new skill....we can make our own coolant lines since they take forever to get from Japan.
Insert a copper pipe bending coil matching the ID of the straight tube and heat hot! Over bend to get the desired form....gloves and a vice recommended
Ice that puppy right after you heat for a minute or two....repeat process till bend is just right
Install that **** without any pinches!
also found a small restrictor in the top coolant line...after a little googling, it's common for applications that have a higher than normal flow water pump to protect heatercores from a coolant pressure surge? Idk just what Google told me....wish I took a photo looked something like this
Mine appeared to be brass
-Moving to finish dash and front interior!
