So you're not smart enough to not **** up your own engine during the simple act of sand blasting... yet you think you're capable of rebuilding it yourself...

I'm actually LOL.

I know you "love haters! z0mg" but seriously you're an idiot most of the time. I appreciate some of the work you've done to try and make the car nice during your build but most of the stuff you've done is half-assed and the only notable items are notable because of the ultimate fail associated with them. Let's face it, you don't have much money to put towards this car, which is why your progress is so slow with the build and also why you've decided to rebuild the motor yourself.

While you may want to get it running again, I can promise you that rebuilding it yourself is a recipe for disaster. Take it to IRP and get it done properly. Sure it will cost more, but I promise it will be at a higher quality than you will be able to prodcue from your garage. Maybe you should just sell your tools all together if you actually did manage to kill your engine via a sandblaster.

PS: I know it's tempting, but while the motor is apart I suggest you don't try and powdercoat the eccentric shaft pink. It might look mad tyte, but ultimately not a good idea.

simple mistake, you learn from your mistakes. unfortunately mine was an expensive one, and unfortunately thats what you get when you try learning by yourself.

I know you "love haters! z0mg" but seriously you're an idiot most of the time.
care to elaborate?

I appreciate some of the work you've done to try and make the car nice during your build but most of the stuff you've done is half-assed and the only notable items are notable because of the ultimate fail associated with them.
what is half assed and what is ultimate fail?

Let's face it, you don't have much money to put towards this car, which is why your progress is so slow with the build and also why you've decided to rebuild the motor yourself.
youre right i dont have an unlimited amount of money, but plenty of well spent money has been put into this car. sometimes the build moves faster than other times and sometimes it doesnt. that isnt solely because i dont have money, other factors in life such as time and priorities dictate the process. ive actually decided to rebuild it myself because it doesnt look difficult to me. nor do i think illl have this engine for the rest of my life, hense id WANT to know how to do rebuilds myself. comments on "dont rebuild it yourself" are dumb. 1 you dont even know me to know what im capable or not capable of doing. 2 everyone starts from somewhere. u dont think irp, kdr, jpr, and everyone we get rebuilds done from ever fucked up an engine in their life? well guess what buddy everyone starts from scratch.

While you may want to get it running again, I can promise you that rebuilding it yourself is a recipe for disaster.
have you rebuilt your own engine?

PS: I know it's tempting, but while the motor is apart I suggest you don't try and powdercoat the eccentric shaft pink. It might look mad tyte, but ultimately not a good idea.
ill try to keep that in mind, thanks for your great words of wisedom

^ everyone has to start somewhere. I'm all for attempting it yourself, you can even get a how to video (not that its the end all be all of course).

I think the best idea would be to see if a reputable builder would help you. Some obviously have there secrets, and may not want to tell you everything, but I'm sure there is someone on here that has some good experience and would be willing to help you for a few hours (it's not like you'd be asking for there "secret ways of porting"). This would be a great learning experience, and would also lower the risk of you messing it up yourself (this would be worth it even if you paid them a little).

damn, someone is a negative nancy. cabaynes is it really so bad the way bubbles and countless others (myself included) are going about things? we love the car and we're doing what we can with it, just cuz we're not rolling in money doesn't mean we can't have and build these cars at our own pace. Also plenty of home-done rebuilds have lasted for years, what's so wrong with doing it that way?

thanks man, i actually have rotary aviations engine rebuild video and was very helpful. judging from what I saw i dont think its very difficult, you just need to be cautious. i thought of that, and i have a few people i know who have done rebuilds so if i get stuck i have a few outs. to me it seems like a lot of shops want to keep their tricks secret lol... but thanks for the support

tu che' man. its one thing to buy and pay for someone else to mod your car and another in getting the satisfaction of doing it yourself. ive done the whole pay for everything and have it done "right" the first time but its hella expensive. with the money ive saved on labor i can now afford to **** up. and even though i pretty much even out at the end plus more down time, im learning something new.

my biggest feud is how most people shoot down the idea of rebuilding engines... saying not to do it and what not... but ironically isnt one of the biggest hypes about a rotary engine that it is only 3 moving parts? and the simplicity of the motor?

Yeah, that point is often overlooked. Everyone and their brother tears down and puts piston engines back together. If you go to any other forum (piston related), there are tons of people that rebuild their own engines. A DIY rebuild should be just as common over here.

I agree, I know a few people that have rebuilt their motors and race them fairly frequently. They've also volunteered to help me with my first rebuild now that it was come time. I would much rather rebuild the motor with some buddies for the cost of a case of beer and some pizza and use the remaining funds for something like my new turbo (just ordered) or professional tuning.

nope, no build thread, precision 6265, billet wheel .70 a/r compressor 4 inch inlet, 2.5 inch outlet. 1.0 a/r divided turbine housing with a 3" v-band outlet
sean at a-spec hooked me up. 950 for the whole thing

edit: I'll probably make a build thread when I get a break, 70 hour work week and classes starting monday = no time for me, the motor is almost out (I popped it in april and had to move at the end of may so I didn't really work on it that much)

so i think my alternator is crapping out again.. im not sure tho.. battery was toasted and just got a new one today... ive tried 2 used alternators, on both the car starts up fine, holds a steady 12volts but if the lights go on or music it drops to 11.6... i ahve no idea what it is... its def not the battery. i cant figure out if its the alternator or maybe a ground?... i ahvent touched any grounds since so idk why that would occur outta no where if it is a ground.....

If you're checking the alternator while the engine's running, the battery should have over 14.3 volts and drop down and hold mid to high 12's once you've turned the car off.

thanks for the help... with it off it reads low 12's, at idle like mid to high 12's when cruising acc, peaks at high 13's/low 14's... is that normal? i know last year when my car was running almost 100% it it held a solid like 13.5 or 14?? but i know it was high and stable vs now... even 12 feels low to me...

but just for reference it wasnt the alternator it was the main fuse box, the connection to the main fuse was messed up bc the plastic around the fuse pins got melted?!?!?!?

I'm pretty positive the battery should be in the 14's while running if the alternator's doing it's job 100%. I know that the cat prob won't even start once the battery gets into the low 12's, high 11v's. Check your alternator cables just for *****.

on the side note ive been playing with my vibrating tumbler and figured out how to get bolts shiny!

im testing em it out with my old bolts but seems to be getting a nice shine on em...

looks good mate. goodluck with the engine rebuild. question when u painted the brake calipers with the gold writing did u do that just by hand with a brush or i heard u can do it by painting the gold before the black and rub off the black where the writing is with a rag and thinners when the black is still wet then you have your gold...
