Where'd you get the stuff ceramic coated? i need some stuff done..

muibubbles 07-22-10 04:23 AM

lmao i have 2 cameras. my black berry pos camera, and my nikon... that i sat on.. so i cant tell what im taking apicture of...

as for the catch can its not installed im not sure how to install it lol right now its just mounted..... i just drilled 2 holes and used self taping screws (its on the dr side frame rail

minor update... got anxious so put mostly everything back together...

just need to powdercoat the UIM, burp coolant (fml), bleed brakes, install rim

also im trying to repair some of the broken stuff... glove box, the center vents.... so far it looks pretty good, seems like this puddy im using is working.. will post up results.

SOO this really got me thinking about all kinds of ducting..... i was thinking about cuttin the same part david did but the whole thing, thus the air will flow up..
excuse the poor diagram lol
http://i426.photobucket.com/albums/p...jamin/duct.jpg

something like taht.. what do you guys think??

also what are the openings on the 99spec lip for? iirc are they for the brakes??? i was thinking of combining the duct with the side ducts for more cooling to the oil coolers (tho i dont have dual oil coolers yet) any thoughts?

Just noticed my pics! Use them in good health. I'll let you know if it works as I am picking up the car next week. In addition to the ducting (which turned out great) I had them seal up any potential air leaks by tightly fitting the bumper to the oil coolers and the intercooler and then weatherstripping any left over holes. I also now have a radiator shroud and a 3,000 CFM fan so we shall see.

Hey Bubbles, maybe try using the text box feature when making diagrams next time haha :)

hahah thanks... maybe it will if u put some time into it rather then commenting on my thread!!! get to it i wanna see it together!!

ps got the car running tonight.. went to a meet, idiots started doing burn outs, cops raided, and my fd never seems to fail me as theyre yelling to evacuate the parking lot good ol' buddy decides not to start.... AAA it the whole way home, talk about a victory (atleast the cops couldnt get me on the ride home!)

soo here is my assumption.. car is running hot so i was riding in a high gear a low speeds (keep the noise down) and it was running rich so im assuming thats where the fule was getting dumped in... so while im there i checked the plugs, and they are olddddd:blush: check the front rotor trailing and seemed OK. then looked at the leading and looked like black bacon cooked on it......

symptoms: the car starts but i have to hold the gas pedal to cut fuel then i have to rev it to get the car started... onces it started i have to hold the gas pedal to keep the car runnning, if i let off it dies... does that sound like a flooded engine and bad spark plugs? ive flooded engines before but never had the issue of the car dying onces its on...

tomorrows plans to duct the radiator, hopefully find spark plugs locally, re burp the coolant? and roll the fenders

last, hopefully get some final pics for y'all... the rims look ganstaaa! its a mix between hella flush and proper fitment.. its JUST what i was looking for, the rears have that fatty aggressive stance but since they are +17 all around, the fronts look like they stick out more then the rears... so might get some spacers.......

andddddddddd its 3:32 am haha

Battle Cat 07-23-10 03:02 AM

LOL, well its more than that ..

i have 0 income atm. so it makes finishing my fd difficult.. but hey, i spent 17k on the fd on 0 income(no job).. pretty dope haha

mannykiller 07-23-10 06:21 PM

If it's running it's definitely not flooded...use the lisle funnel to get all the air out....or a 2 liter bottle i exactly how to in a thead about coolant probs inthe third gen section. If it's running hot i'd almost guarantee you have air in the system. Do you have an AST? or is it deleted? But check your coolant level and keep filling it up.

i got it running, it starts up everytime now but i usually have to blip the throttle... fp is at 25 psi and i think my LIM isnt on tight enough or something with the gasket.. im assuming thats why the low fp.....

i do believe its air bubbles as well... i drove it today... after warm up for about 3-4 min and it didnt past 87 which is good! usually for that it would be creeping at 90... so i think cooling is almost resolved...

can you point me in the right direction?

no ast, i delete everything! ive been filling it up and the reservoir is full.... can someone explain how the reservoir works?

1) Are you seeing an increase in white smoke on accel? or decel? could just be your plugs.... if your plugs are bad....fuel isn't being burnt...which leads to the white smoke.

2) THe resevoir works like this... When the resevoir is full....if coolant is slowly leaking out of the system or burning up for some reason, it'll be pulled from the resevoir back into the system. If there is too much in the system then it over-flows and gets dumped to the street. But you could still potentially have air bubbles in the system if it's over flowing because they just may sit high enough in the motor not to be dislodged. Did you disconnect the Throttle body coolant line and get the bubbles out? if not....I deleted mine so air won't ever get stuck there again.

Heres the thread:
https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/being-paranoid-coolant-light-came-913653/

And do this:
Take a 2 liter bottle fill it up with distilled water, and tape the opening where the cap is so it fits snug on your water pump housing opening. Flip it quick and connect it.... air bubbles should eventually start coming out of the system. give it a couple squeezes as well...but keep it snug on the opening as not to spill coolant everywere. Do it when the car is cold, then warm it up and about halfway disconnect it. Do it a few times over and over..

1 on accel it gets worse. just switched to brand new ngk bur9eq's

2 im bypassing the coolant via TB... so no i didnt do that trick. i believe i JUST got out all my air bubbles... last friday i wnet for a quick drive (even tho the car died and stranded me AGAIN) the coolant didn move from 87 which is looking a lottttt better.

minor update. im taking the lim and evaluating the gasket. i believe the lim didnt seal properly so there is a minor vacuum leak? in the process i managed to break my vband clamp lol... so that should be here on thursday

also ordered an fc thermoswitch
fender roller should be here tomorrow
turbo blanket should be here by friday =)

tomorrow will roll the fenders, and do some ducting for the rad and oil cooler:icon_tup: (actually its today already)

Your FP will not go much lower than your base pressure at idle (it will only decrease from the base by the amount of vac you are pulling).

In order to set base pressure you remove the vac line while the car is idling - this is because your car is in vacuum during idle which decreases from base (Vac subtracts and Boost adds fuel pressure).

You have a 1:1 rising rate FPR so 1lb of boost will increase FP 1lb (to maintain the same pressure relationship).

You have your FPR set too low or you have a excessive amount of restriction reducing flow.

Most people run 40+ base pressure. OEM IIRC is 42.

muibubbles 07-28-10 03:46 PM

^^ yeah that was my assumption, i just tighten the LIM and some bolts had a few turns to go so i think that may have been leaking...

say my fuel pressure is low, wouldn't that cause my afrs to be lean since its not getting as much fuel as it should be?

also looking over some stuff i have oil in my tb a tiny from the elbow. UIM/ UIM both have oil residue on both outer runners...... any ideas? (going to search now) << i thought an oil catch can would solve this but mis understood it... cusco oil catch can forsale.. check my fs add...

muibubbles 07-28-10 03:48 PM

About the FP - if you always ran 25psi and you tuned your car with it that way the AFR's wouldn't change.

You can run 25psi but people don't because of atomization is poor at that level.

If it did go from 40's to 25 - then yes, your AFR would go lean.

There is a few things that can cause the oil.

How you plumb it makes a very large difference.

You should not just cap it.

You can't hook a Vac line up to it after the turbo because it will pressurize your system under boost.

If your oil control rings and seal clearance are bad you will get excessive blow by

This is because the compression in the combustion chamber escapes between the seals and pushes against the control rings allowing pressure into the system.

Where the catch can is mounted will make a difference also.

Then there is always the turbo...... but most times it's how the engine was plumbed.

muibubbles 08-02-10 05:04 PM

blah minor update.. all those issues are still present... further more can be found in this thread...

on the side note. turbo blanket arrived, FC thermoswitch installed, fenders rolled, made some ducting for the IC > Rad...

muibubbles 08-02-10 10:36 PM

since i suck at cars and my white pos rock doesnt move, i thought id take it back old school....

quick question, you have scoot replica hood, who's the manufacturer? and how does it fit? cars looking amazing.

muibubbles 08-06-10 12:37 AM

its the forum vendor. in MD.. EDIT: Chaser aero... fitment is okay... it actually is annoying me and im only keeping the hood bc its functional......... however my friend bought the cf version and the fitment looked great.........

muibubbles 08-17-10 10:17 PM

so ive set my next deadline for aug 28 which is the chris carlisi meet. today i just pulled the motor with the intentions to bring it to dave @ KDR to check it out and see if warenty work would be possible but as i took it out i saw some debris from my sand blasting and im assuming i fcked it up. soooooooo im going to tear it down and rebuild it myself.... i believe a soft seal set would be sufficient as the motor only has 5000 miles on it.

on the sideeeee note, i got my friends "extra" engine on the side if all fails i will attempt to frankienstien my car to the meet with my friends motor haha
