mini update. too tired to take pics and post.

SO, so far im a day behind. i would have liked to put the engine in tomorrow (wed) but im still working on sanding, prepping, and painting the engine bay.

Started the brake lines but the blue point flare tool sucks so ill probably go to the mechanic around the corner tomorrow to see if he can do em for me..

new engines in the garage on the stand awaiting assembly! (need an impact gun or take the engine to bolt the flywheel on...

got the bits to port but just realized they are 1/4" and dont fit in my dremel or the die grinder i just bought... so ill have to return it for one that will can hold 1/4" bits.

bov flange came
rad/IC pipping/couplers came

just ordered some Reflective Aluminized sleeving, weld studs, and some barbs/fittings to finish my FPR relocation

Question

would there be any ill effect if i ran 3/8" hose from the FPR and secondary rail even though all my other lines are 5/16?

so did a little porting today with the new bits i got... i was lazy to get a die grinder so i just used some old cheap B&D drill. these bits were AWESOME. i paid 35 shipped but seems like the price went up. definitely worth it if you will be doing some porting.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0016KD0H8

engine bay is about 80% done before paint... so hopefully tomorrow ill finish and get a coat on there.

engine- put the oil pan on an that was about it.. lol

so far mannykillers is right, im 2 days behind schedule and about 1.5 days behind work wise...

i will be sending out my injectors to get test and cleaned so new eta is either sat night (if all goes well and injectors get back by then) or wednesday ish, as ill be in NY this weekend..

Great build w/pictures!

That's also killer deal on those bits; I spent $10 for one cylindrical carbide burr locally which was definitely worth every penny.

Wow this is commitment.

Might be the pic, but that clutch doesn't look kosher.

What are the smaller diameter pipe's for?

no pics since ive been working non stop the past few days. engine bay is somewhat one and painted with por15 chassis black. unfortantely my body work sucks so you can see imperfections. its driving me crazy. idk what im going to do. im going to try doing some more sanding tomorrow and add another coat before i head to ny for a few days... if it comes out like crap idk what im going to do....

Others..
got my tial big read spring (10psi on my 44mm wg) and installed it.

Motor
-fly wheel
-clutch
-oil pan
-omp block off
-turbo oil feed
-turbo oil return
-crank pulley and sensors (drawing a blank forgot what they are called)
-spark plugs
- oil pedestal

pulleys and greddy elbow are repowder coated. came out like crap but im so fed up i dont care at this moment.

lim, manifold, coolant line along firewall, wp housing are all ready to be ceramic coated except all my air guns dont seem to be working so called it a night after that.

brake lines are re routed and complete, i just need to make a bracket to mount the proportioning valve and install the lines (after i figure out what im doing with the bay)

today picked up my ecu from my tuner and a gm 3bar map sensor

ETA: next weekend

ugh. i HATE IT. i swore last year was the last time im painting the bay myself. i did it again and hate it. this time i SWEAR its MY last time painting the bay. i did a quick (15 min) sand and resprayed it. i think another coat should cover up majority of the imperfections as its a self leveling paint. if it doesnt look good when i come back wednesday, im just going to use whatever paint i have left and throw on another coat. good or bad, its the way its going to stay for the remainder of the 2011 season. i just need to drive it now. this winter, its getting professionally painted. im done messing around!!!!

ps you must have a huge grin as my schedule is following your time table!!! you cursed me! haha should be done next week (sat) if not, im posting it for sale...

low shot of the my vmic

mock up of the vmic

As she sits.
Things to note:
Alt is temporary until i get the chance to powder coat my other one black
WP neck is temporary but will get sprayed black for now
UIM is not finished needs more work then paint
IC endtank pipes still need to be welded
rad pipes will get CC black
will make aluminum fender liners
will make covers for brake booster area/ where the abs unit use to sit
will make shroud for front so only IC fins will be seen
ducting for VMIC will come later on but its designed with very little clearances that it should be okay for now.

i know.. idk what to do.. i lost a lot of it since the piping from my fmic (4) reduced to one...... and since the IC to turbo distance is so short, the coupler is only an inch to 2 inch away so i lose the pink pipe on the turbo side..... im debating if i should cut the coupler shorter and add a 3-4" section pipe...

only other pink things that are missing is the torque brace and strut tower ends.................

Woo nice progress man. I am really digging the shaved bay.

As far as the pink, it pops really well against the black bay. I personally think it would look amazing if you powder coated the compressor housing pink again. Then paint the intercooler end tanks, pipes and TB pink. Water filler neck, alternator and pulleys black. Then when you look in the engine bay the pink corresponds to path the air takes feeding into the engine. Just my 2 cents, either way keep up the good work and progress.
