AZ Bringing back the 1993 RX7 FD I Purchased on 3/2

Alright after a lot of looking I bought this FD RX7 with a bad Apex Seal from a local seller. It was the color and had many upgrades that I already wanted for the FD RX7 I would be purchasing.
I then got busy buying the rest of the stuff I wanted for it to make what I thought would be the safest TT13B I could own until I could decide if I actually like the Rotary or that I was going to be evil and swap in a 5.7L LS1 and play with that.

Motor purchased from Engine World with a 30 Day Warranty got here 3/20/2012, shortly after I talked to the owner of RX for your 7 and wished we had talked sooner... I am concerned on this motor but they knew the correct way to test the Rotary at Engine World and promised to warranty it I have spoke with them a few times. I am hoping for the best at this point, it tested good on the loading dock before I took it home. (I will be doing the basic tune up and seal replacements on it)

I decided I wanted the car to run E85 as I have done before and bought bigger secondary injectors as well as another set of 850's I really didn't need... now I have 3 sets oh well. 1200cc for the secondaries and 850cc for the primary's.

I also decided vacuum lines suck... after a lot of reading lol. So I am removing the Sequential Setup. (Feedback on any of my idea's or what I am doing is def. welcome as this will be my first TT Rotary)

The following mods have been purchased or came with the car:
Alum. Radiator
Aftermarket OBX Cooling Hoses
V-Mount Intercooler
1200cc RC Side Feed Injectors
850cc Injectors (Have 3 sets now if anyone want to buy a few)
Greddy Twin Air Intakes
3" Down Pipe no Cat (Actually bought 2 of these after winning one on eBay I thought I wouldn't... so ones for sale!)
3" Mid Pipe with either a Cat or Resonator have not looked yet...
3" Exhaust by idk... need to look
Centerforce Clutch looks to be a Stage 2 off a local
Lightweight Flywheel and Counter Weight
D/S Rotors
Upgraded Sway Bar's
Mazda Miata Steering Wheel I had off another project
Piggy Back Purple Box ECU that RX for your 7 say's is the best choice so I will work with it (Would like software though over this hand held controller)
Bride Seats
AEM Wideband
Autometer Boost Gauge

There is more but thats the basic idea of whats going on with the car. I sold the Headlights on eBay to go back to the factory ones that I hopefully have everything for. I also need new speakers it would seem. This has the Bose system but the front speakers sound blown and I have not really tried the rears yet. I think I am going to pull the Sony Deck and install my personal on as well as play with the speakers and see what we have there. I am not a huge sound nut but I would like some good music and a little bass.

We shall see what happens here, I have a lot of stuff to let go of like the stock motor with a bad apex seal, wiring harness, intake, turbos, injectors, etc (I have a pair of 1600cc Top Feed Injectors I will not be using it appears too and the stock downpipe with cats). If anyone wants it let me know I am going to be selling it all along with left over items to recoup some of the costs towards new rims for the car possibly.

Here are the pictures after bringing it home, more to come:

Street/Track and Fun Toy, I will do the Quarter Mile but honestly do not care its just fun.

First I just need to see how I feel with the car and have the base mods there to support future changes. Atleast that is what my thoughts on it are.

Alright took a little longer but here are pictures for everyone, did not get much done this weekend with Easter but had a great time with Cheyenne and Tyler so it was worth it.

Congrats on the purchase. Not thinking that 850s and 1200s will be enough injector for E85. You also may want to invest in a new engine harness while the motor is out. Yours looks pretty stiff. Is it crispy? Also you'll need an aftermarket fuel pump and while your at it, you should replace your fuel filter.

Just some thoughts!!

It is I have been taking it apart and putting in the new pieces from the other harness.

The injectors are over a 30% increase on Primary's and over 40% on the Secondaries. For not changing the boost you would still be concerned?

Fuel Filter is already on the list trying to track down all the gaskets I need today.

Not sure on the injectors. If you plan on staying at 'stock' boost levels, you 'may' be fine with those choices. Need someone with real world E85 experience to chime in. So Jay wants you to stick with that old dog PF Purple piggy back huh? IMO, Power FC would be a better choice, but he knows that computer very well, so if he's helping you it may be your best choice. Hopefully he will help you tune it when the car is ready.

Alright this weekend I worked on the FD and the MR2 and the Jeep... a lot going on. The Dealer got in all the parts I ordered but the 54mm Nut I needed for the Flywheel so I really was on hold just doing anything I could.

I got the interior electronics done, most all of the wiring finished in the engine bay I just have the extra coolant sensor left on the 93 Harness and I can not find the connector... great.

The MR2 got some electrical work done tracing down a problem with the O2 Heater and Speedo, I also bought more parts to continue trying to finish those little things.

The Jeep just got attention to the tail light that works when it wants too... no matter what I did it refused so I resigned I was going to have to buy a new one (Even soldered on the connector to make a really solid connection that was raised up when the bulb is in... no luck.
However my brother thought, hey if your going to trash it why not try actually soldering the bulb housing to it... so I let him do it and it works lol. I still have to buy a new one but oh well it works for now.

However on the RX7 with everything I got done I found a few area's where I could use some help and some parts if anyone has them.
Parts:
1) Passenger Side Plastic cover for the Side Mirror, the piece above the door panel, mine snapped I fixed it but it makes me nuts.
2) A Bose Amp.. One of mine is dead. I put in new speakers up front but I need one working amp.

So at this point I am removing useless items, trying to do the Non-Sequential Conversion to remove wiring and getting the injectors in. The things I have come to are what all can I remove? I have the wiring diagram for non-sequential but that's it. I have removed the air pump, I have been removing supporting hardware. My old motor had the air pump looking item on the lower inside of the intake manifold blocked off so I did that again.
I removed the secondary butterfly's from the upper intake manifold, what else does everyone pull?

I also started working on the battery relocation, I hope to be done shortly with that.

With my Birthday and everything else going on since the weekend I did not get as much done but finally here we are, motor is in there as of last night.

Engine bay is still dirty I did not get to wash it as planned but I really just wanted to get the motor in there and see that its going to work... or not.

We shall see how it goes tonight! Still a good amount of work to do so I am not sure if it will be running yet but should be close. Then I can finish cleaning it up and focus on the little things.

Good to see another FD being brought back to life. You won't go wrong working with Jay at RX for Your 7. Not very well known on the forum, but he's been building rotaries longer than anyone else I know. He used to work on my 1973 RX-2 way back in the early 80's.

Its getting so close! Almost there! However it looks like it may get put on hold... I have to deal with this situation with the Corvette popping back up first and I have no idea how much its going to cost me. I also can not find the Alternator Pulley the original owner pulled off... so with that MIA I am looking for another one.

I have been distracted, the guy that bought my Corvette never titled it because he never picked up the title. It was then impounded and I just got it out yesterday. I drove it to work today and had not realized how much I had missed it...

I have been talking to the young man's mom and I offered to buy it back since he is obviously having some issues she has agreed (Obviously since they signed a notarized release of the vehicle back to me) so were going to talk about a price after I have finished having it inspected and finding out why its running so badly.

But that means the RX7 has sat, I did get the custom pulley we made for removing the air pump done and on but now the intercooler that was smaller is still way to big so I am working on getting another one.

Lets see what happens this weekend, car has E85 in it now maybe we can see it started.

I got one and found the original (Which I used to make my custom pulley for replacing the Air Pump worked great lol).

But honestly as of last night I am thinking of possibly letting the RX7 go since I have the Vette back... I would like to keep both but that might be more than I could afford right now.

I honestly had not thought about it completely yet I really do not want to but driving my Corvette for the first time since March... I realized just how much I had missed it. Affording two really nice toys just is not in my future yet. Soon maybe when I am done with College but not quite yet.

Anyway I will take pictures tonight and PM you my number.

Its up and running on E85 now! I was headed up to Phoenix for the AZFBA Dyno Day but it appears to have been canceled so I am going to see if I can get the RX7 over to Rusty earlier today to get the Intercooler finished.

Its time to get this car back on the road and see what it feels like. I also need to get the new Sway Bars on it, forgot about those.
