An Addicted Performance "Restoration"

I am finally doing a write up on this 93 touring Rx-7 that we did. We bought it as a roller in order to bring it back to life to make a customer happy. It was a pretty simple build that we tried to accomplish making it a perfect daily driver for someone, but still being able to be a head turner at shows. We knew we could keep it simple, stock, and subtle; but still be something that was very clean.

Here is our Story........................

Here is the car the day we picked it up. The owner was defiantly a Rx-7 lover and took great pride in the car. The story behind the car was that he had owned it for 9 years and in his third year of owner ship lost the motor to a chipped seal. So the car had set for close to 6 years. Since he did not have the time nor the resources to do what he wanted to with the car he passed it onto us.

With the car back at the shop we lay everything out and decided a plan of attack. With a brand new rebuild on its way from Djseven done in a silver and black theme we knew we had to keep that them going.

We immediately pulled off what we new needed attention. We took the brake calibers apart and prepped them for powder coating.... along with the rotors. We also ordered brand new brake rebuild kits from Mazda.

We then laid out the rest of the engine parts and got them ready for powder coating. We knew we wanted to be on the safe side ( since this car could be a daily driver for someone) so we ordered brand new primary and secondary injectors from Ray at Malloy Mazda. While they were on the way we also took the fuel rail apart in order to be powder coated to match the rest of the other engine parts.

All the paint on the car was original. And kind of rough. I mean it set for 6 years baking. So while we were busy preparing parts and waiting for the motor we pulled the rear bumper that had clear coat issues and repainted it. matched perfectly.

Then the parts started to get done. We received the rebuilt motor with ALS seals and started the instal with our fresh powder coated parts. We decided to go with a wrinkle black powder coated and to accent the brakes a wrinkle black and a candy red Mazda lettering.

You saw the before
And here is the after

We then had to do something about the paint. So we have this guy....... yea he is ranked as one of the top ten detailers in the country in Dupont registry. Well needless to say here is what he did.
50/50

Well 3 big meals and 12 hours later we ended up with this.............

Final pics to come
