Heating up

Did you fill in the gaps around your radiator after you changed it? Here's a pic of my old one with the foam on it. And mine I just put in, I guess I need to fill it in.

thanks for the heads up. I'll take a look at it once I get home. I was so focused in ducting the oil cooler and IC I might have just forgot about it . I'm not having issue keeping the Temps cool while in motion. it's when in bumper to bumper stop and go in 95 ~ 115 weather. I think I should move lol

update,.

the temps been holding up just fine for the pass few days with some hard driving and heavy boosting. maybe cause the cold weather(75+) or my eyes was just playing tricks on me making me think the needle was rising and running hot. ill keep monitoring

anyways,,,, I finally got the AC to fully working condition. by Mike at mikes cool cars
he is located in Ontario . if any one is interested in getting your AC working again with R12 hit me up. ill forward hes info

SO... upon inspecting a big leak we found out the dryer receiver was the main culprit.
the O-rings on them were non existent causing a major leak.
we tried to get a new one but I guess mine was a port side installed MANA system ?
black steel dryer receiver.

the top one is the typ that all the auto parts store carry for our cars
there was no way it could of work with mine so I reused the old one after cleaning it very thoroughly with acetone.

man behind the scene.

charging it up with fresh du pont R12
(hes holding a fancy detector in the air . I guess calibrating for something..)

while the car is running and blowing AC. he said I need to sniff around

BLOWING COLD !!
sniff done and didn't detecting any other leaks yay

FD with AC is truly amazing.

missing the lid

not missing anymore

review.
although its a nice piece. it didn't fit snug enough. theres a half inch gap and the lid slides back and forth if you didn't position it good enough in the center

on my FD the hole on the door cup side is broken, so when I put the screw in and try to install it that way it doesn't lock the screw, so if I try to open the lid like its suppose to the screw pops out and causes it to open awkwardly and wont close right.
what i did was put the L wrench that came with the kit through the holes since its long enough to get all the way to the end and sort of lock it in place. its tight and snug , i just cant open it
it looks good though. who needs that pocket space anyways

the Ohlins DFV
the car feels very planted during high speed maneuvering , sharp curve / high bank . during high speed the bumps and potholes really get absorbed and soaked up. however. day to day street driving it's a little annoying if you don't have smooth roads. where I live there's certain section of streets that are just really fucked up. cracks , little bumps and tiny pot holes
I feel like the wheel just bounce off them and makes the entire rear HOP . thus making alot of noise.
I have the oem 11kg FnR at first I did 10click recommended setting. now I'm fiddling with the settings at 13f and 15r

overall. I like them. they are good for what they cost. if I have to do it again. I stay 11kg front. and get 9kg rear just for a little more comfort

update

so... its been while. a lot of things had happened with the car, well at least to me it seems like a a lot. also my personal life. new job..time with gf.. vacation... etcetc you get the idea. but while everything else was happening i did not neglect the FD( aside from not driving it). parts are still being gathered... money wastefully spent..countless nights on the webz looking for parts and ****.

im not real good at keeping photos or record keeping... so ill do my best ..

i went to TAIWAN for my vacation and while i was there i visited the most famous rotary there . AD garage and the owner was kind enough to give me a tour and show me all the awesomeness

very interesting fuel setup.

i kept staring at this FD in aw.. its just beautiful

all the other very cool 90s japanese cars there.. specially the celica

this beautiful piece showed up from the motherlands

all in the same day my GF got me this for my Bday present along with some other nice things thatll be showed in future post..(she said it inspired her other purchase while shopping for this one...and yes it is AWESOME )

so.. for the past few months ive been smelling raw fuel from the engine bay and sure enough. the return fuel line has a crack in it.

i ordered 2 new OEM fuel hose from Ray along with a new pulsation dampener( **** is expensive ! )

while i was in there i might as well clean up the rats nest and replace a few more things...

updated COIL harness with built in ground

rich AKA Goodfellas pointed out that i have a very shitty fuel temp sensor lol

i also thought it was a good idea to send the injectors out and have them serviced. ( and boy was it a good call... holy Jesus)

pretty filthy right.. took me a while to clean it all up

everything back together new NGK coil harness/wires installed

my transmission had a failure where it would not engage in gear at all what so ever and for the longest time it would make this very annoying grinding noise in 2nd gear 2000 RPM( could not figure out why) during this time i have bought a very good tran from ALEX RODRIGUEZ
so i thought well, thats a sign.. dropping the trans it is .

upon removal.

the last shop that did a clutch job for me didn't install it correctly ?
oh well.. its old new.

took it to my buddies shop Neptune Speed in CA for the heavy lifting along with installing my new exhaust

out with the old in with the new..ish

exhaust installed .

and yes it sounds bitchin !
i currently still have the stock main cat so the sound is very tamed and low rumble. i love it !

bought a 93 MR2 NA with 78k original miles. it is in mint condition!
when the engine goes im dropping a gen4 turbo motor in... but i heard these engine lasts forever and hard to kill..( ill show more of this car in the future )

( sorry for the shitty phone pic)
took my nasty original seats out to put some newly acquired mint seats. ( thanks kenny !)

annnnd the original seats

fast forward to more recent time.

i had ordered this Mazda speed 99 lip replica from shine auto projects a very long time ago(knowing some day in the very distant future i might want to do a conversion) and i was the third person to actually get hands on them.

picture says it all
(and yes... the big surprise from my GF was to surprise me with its counter part)

wa~bam she got me a new 99 spec bumper from rx7.com

i had told her before i secretly want to do a conversion but kept putting it off because of how expensive it was to get the bumper and super hard to come by, she remembered while shopping for that spirit R model she gave me for my B day present . she said she wanted to surprise me for our anniversary (i think im doing something right in this relationship) it is currently in route to my door !!

after a few days it finally settled in that the conversion is really happening and its not all a dream. i went ahead and started hunting for a 99 spec wing. and lo and behold the same day i found very interesting doll selling one on facebook. needless to say after a short conversation i was on my way to meet up half ways with the seller! ( she even drove 1 hour to meet me in the middle so the deal goes smoothly )

im pretty shocked that its in such good condition.( picked it up for a bitchin price too)

now that all the big pieces and expensive stuff is out the way minus the REBAR. the rest is not that hard to get my hands on.. R magic oil coolers.. undertray., brake ducts etcetc to make the real conversion

i am really excited..even though its still going to take some time getting it all put together and have the car repainted.. AND i might want to upgrade the wheels too.. maybe spirit R BBS's? hmmmmm
