4th times a charm

Well i blew my motor again :ugh2: this time i didnt have a little break i blew every apex seal. i detonated so hard that it put a huge dent on one the face of my rotor i even blew my 35r. check out the carnage

you can see the seals were cracked on all the corners also if u look at the corners of both rotors u can see the scratches which means i have to get new rotors maybe.

G's 3rd Gen 11-05-07 05:27 PM

Damn..Why so many motors? Poor tuning? You will like the microtech. G

ihavetwins 11-05-07 05:34 PM

i guess your right. but $1500(if you could get away with that price doing things yourself) is not just the easiest to come by. especially if you had no intentions of putting money into a rebuild

Eggie 05-07-08 10:05 PM

Nice parts there. I was going to say that you'll need to change your sig now, but then I saw the new wheels' offsets. :)

1QWIK7 05-07-08 10:14 PM

Nice parts man.

Have you been building your engine yourself?

charlies7 05-07-08 10:18 PM

Housings look familiar

sbnrx7 05-07-08 10:29 PM

Nice, I need one of your money trees in my yard. I like everything but the steering wheel. A Nardi wheel may be recognized by some for it's expense, but few would agree that it looks good in an RX7 interior. Vintage Jaguar yes, Mazda FD RX7, No. You do have good taste for nice upgrades though.

TpCpLaYa 05-07-08 10:38 PM

damn man....cant wait to see the beast for ONCE

charlies7 05-07-08 10:40 PM

Ted you home?

FD3S2005 05-08-08 01:37 AM

everything looks great except the steering wheel.. just not my cup of tea... how much did you pay for thos coilovers?

finnicky7 05-08-08 06:42 AM

I see you are in IL you should bought your engine from the same place your brace is coming from (Banzai). Chris at Banzai builds and tunes great engines that last. Who is doing your tuning?

charlies7 05-08-08 12:06 PM

I believe its going there :)

Great people over there, they built mine :icon_tup:

arghx 05-08-08 02:00 PM

My first piece of advice to you is to buy a wideband (if you don't already have one) and mount it on your steering column cover, between/beneath your tach with an Autometer universal mounting cup. That way you always know what your AFR is. That's no guarantee against a blown motor, but it will keep you more aware of what's going on in your engine, especially in the case of elevation and temperature changes. The PFC commander also has a peak display mode that will let you know if you had a random boost spike, increased knock readings, or a heatsoaked IAT sensor or something. Even if you take your car to a reputable tuner you can't get complacent. Shit happens.

well im sure most people wouldn't go with a wood wheel but its not for performance it's for my style im in to the lux/drift crazy look. gutted interior with a wood wheel will look crazy.

Brismo7 05-15-08 12:08 PM

my car will never see a lame ls1 swap:icon_tdow

Brismo7 05-16-08 12:00 AM

If you knew how to tune a rotary, your car wouldnt need an LS1.

haha

I'm just messing with you.

JStrib 05-16-08 12:44 AM

We get no love on this forum.

Nice progress, my friend. You seem mechanically adept -- why not build the motor yourself?

ihavetwins 05-16-08 07:11 PM

im sorry i just think putting an LS1 in car that was meant to have a rotary is just plain fucking stupid, but, i still have love for the motor just not in my car. to be honest with you this is the first time i have ever done anything like this, if i had the money i would pay to get it done, there is a reason why im doing it my self this time...... but i rather not get in to that. i didn't want to build my motor cuz i have no prior experience on it. i plan on buying a blown one and see if i can build it but we will see.

anyway had some time today so i took my calipers off sprayed them silver. im pretty happy i wasn't trying to get them perfect just hated the faded red from the last owner.

http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...2/DSC00241.jpg

the paint i used

http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...2/DSC00244.jpg

all sprayed up !!
