Sick car Costa! Good job choosing the right parts for the build.

If it you don't mind me asking, who will tune your car?

Andrew

Hey Andrew
Thanks

I have yet to decide who's gonna tune it as enzo is very busy.
I have different options, we shall see by the end of july

Well I don't know if you remember, but last time we met I told you I was getting Enzo to tune my car that weekend... He work on my car (3 rotor runing Microtech ltx12) until it was right we were there from 10 AM until 10 PM. I had break up issues because my ignition wasn't strong enough because I was injecting methanol for safety but it would be too hard on the spark. Despite that he adjusted the timing and was able to perform a tune for 9 psi, 14 and 17 psi. He is very patient and goes through all the rpm range to build the map for the car to run properly... He did an amazing job! The car was running like a dream! I wasn't able to boost 14 psi and more on the highway because on the actual road there is more resistance than on a dyno.

He gave me the advice that I needed to upgrade my ignition and suggested that one if the best is M&W and it is what I bought. After I install the M&W box the car would run strong at any PSI with zero break up just as he had told me.

What I liked is that he takes his time and he is very patient. Also he is not power hungry, he is all about being reliable and put the client in a situation where he will get enjoyment out of a motor that will last them many miles instead of a ticking time bomb.

Good luck!

Costas,
The build is looking very nice :icon_tup:

There is only one tuner I'd recommend, especially if you are going to road race it, Ray at PFS!

Trust me I know enzo.. his work is very good. He has already been to cyprus twice but unfortunately he cant make it this year. The fact that hes local to me also helps a lot as I strongly believe that this kind of relations require face to face interactions. And I remember your setup very well.. a rather envious setup ;) .. I wish I could get to that point eventually.
so far I tuned the car myself with the help of some friends. Runs good but I have yet to reach the cars potential. Apparently I have tuned the car better so far as from what I have seen the tuners over there (most of them) are incapable to calibrate a 3bar map sensor on a power fc lol

He also tuned a 500whp fc in cyprus conservatively and the car rums great for the last 3+ years.. original unopenned engine with 150+ k km on the clock..

Thanks fritz, I gotta admit that for this build you helped quite a lot :)
I have only heard of Ray. Never met him in person.. I mainly hear good things about him but I dont have any first hand experience to talk for myself.

My pleasure, as always thanks for the support!

There are lots of good tuners out there: Steve Kan etc..... but PFS is a tuner that has proven himself over and over again (tuned Ernie T's drag car to 800 plus HP/two rotor engine), tunes Supras to ridiculous power #s and his own 350z made 750 or so. Bottomline: he can TUNE!!!

If you have experience with someone/know a good tuner, no worries but you won't go wrong if you choose PFS :icon_tup:

Better than some of the wheels you've had!!

tbkonwso 08-28-14 07:31 PM

love the car! i cant seem to find your tire sizes

R-R-Rx7 09-02-14 05:43 PM

The road tires (nt05) are 245 40 18 and rear are 285 35 18 (if memory serves, uncertain about the tire profile)
The tires for the track (nt01) are 275 40 17 square setup

That's pretty much what I tell people when it comes to tuning.

R-R-Rx7 09-06-14 05:48 AM

Luckily the person who "volunteered" to tune did a great job. Car runs great. Makes great torque and great power. We had it on the dyno for 6+ hours doing 25psi pulls and the car feels awsome.. the car ended up not participating in the time attack event due to several problems (tune unrelated) but in the trials the car was heading for first place..
I blew a turbo transmission burned the master and slave cylinders and fried my power fc.

I have to thank BNR SUPERCARS for building a turbo for meafter my original turbo failed. Shipping it the same day and made it half way across the planet in a day and a half. I would definitely go back to BNR again and again.

At the track

R-R-Rx7 09-09-14 01:58 PM

I also like the all white look.. it is in the plans :)
I will leave the vents carbon only just as a trim sort of looking thing
Thanks Gordon

Farkel 09-09-14 02:25 PM

Great looking car. How do you like the fitment of that RE-Amemiya AD-9 hood? Does it secure well with just the stock hood latch and without catch pins?

R-R-Rx7 09-09-14 02:51 PM

I cant say that it fits like a glove.. It could be the rest bodykit though but hell that latch is strong.. zero movement at over 200km

simronrx7 09-09-14 02:52 PM

^ wondering the same thing.

Carpe_Diem_7 05-18-15 03:39 PM

Any updates on this build Costas. I am sure you have good stuff coming in :)

Okay. Yep. Been "dead" for a few years now. Lots of reasons for that. Every type of build has been done and extremely well and by many people. Despite Howard Coleman's Johnny Appleseed like missionary work to prevent people blowing their motors through water injection people keep having remarkably similar failures and that old rotary reputation for unreliability had largely remained. The car's old now and a bit passe. Many or most FD's are pretty tired and low mile car prices are skyrocketing as more mature collectors start snapping them up and these guys aren't building single turbo track cars. And, then, there are issues with the forum itself as a social entity. So, I agree with you, but am still hopeful that you will post up some stuff occasionally. :)

G

That's the sad truth

R-R-Rx7 05-29-15 12:42 PM

Gordon i received your pm but i decided not to respond as im stuck between sides and i dont have an opinion or even a say in the whole thing.

Nevertheless. .. theres some stuff going on with the car currently. Once they are done i ll post some updates.. im not too keen on it to be honest but i will do it to continue my support to this community

7_rocket 06-03-15 07:32 PM

Costas being himself as usual. He's a good guy however :)

I would like to see more updates though
