1993 r1

Just recently picked up this 1993 Vintage Red R1

Interior is in good condition but some stuff definitely needs replacing

For now my goal is to get it back to its original state and then kind of go from there

This one’s my second RX-7 (First one here) so I’m excited to take what I’ve learned from owning my FC and apply it here!

Haha yes I've really been enjoying them the past few days. Super comfy compared to the buckets I have in my second gen. Going to rock with these until I can get my hands on the OEM Recaro's.

So far I've gone about buying all the readily available interior that Mazda still makes, going to make a few trips to Mazdatrix this week. Ordered every new hose and a KoyoRad for the car for now. I do eventually want to soup up the engine but for now I'm having a lot of fun with the stock sequentials. The feeling when the second turbo hits at around 4k RPM is to die for

Congrats on the purchase! A VR R1 was my first FD back in 1998

When you're in the market for a shift **** and/or steering wheel shoot me a PM-- I have a hoarded collection over here

Interior progress pretty much replaced all the easy to get stuff. I've been a little busy with my FC as of late so I haven't made as much progress as I'd like to on the FD. Hopefully more to come. Aside from this I replaced all the hoses and the coolant reservoir and had a KoyoRad put in.

First interior overhaul was the defroster vents. I didn't take a photo of the old ones but they were cracked. Was super easy and I'm really glad I'm still able to get the center piece as they are quite hard to find on the second gens. (P/N: FD01-64-905-02, FD01-60-790-02, and FD01-60-780-02)

Put in all new shift boot (P/N: FD01-64-330C-00) as well as a replica of the OEM shift ****. Might try to find a really good condition OEM **** or good condition leather Mazdaspeed **** in the future, but for now this will suffice.

I also took this chance to replace the parking brake handle with a 99 spec one (P/N: BFD1-44-034).

Was a good chance to replace the spring (P/N: G030-44-031), and lever button. Had a hard time deciding between silver (P/N: N070-44-033A) and black (FB01-44-033). Ended up going with black to keep everything one color

My FD also came with the infamous broken passenger door handle

So I replaced it since Mazda still makes new LHD passenger door handles (P/N: FD01-69-44XE-00) for the 93 models. Also took the chance to replace the pull handles (P/N: FD01-68-DDXE-00 & FD01-68-DDYE-00) and the window button (P/N: FD01-66-370A). One of the previous owners clearly tried to glue on the door handle to panel so if any of you guys are selling clean black LHD door panels let me know lol.

Also been gathering a lot of parts.

Managed to grab a 99 spec headunit and a NB1 Miata wheel with the airbag.

Got a real 99 Spec core and will use this with the Miata airbag, so I can retain the airbag function.

The car has a slight exhaust leak. Dealing with that turned into "might as well change the exhaust when I deal with that" so I bought my dream-spec exhaust.

Starting to gather some body parts I've always wanted as well.

Got a brand new OEM 99 Spec bumper. Going to try to get the wing later this month.

I also picked up a set of Fujita Engineering side skirts.

Hopefully can get some these things on later this month
