All the engine work, and stock exhaust and downpipe? Throw a full titanium exhaust and a downpipe in. Thats another 2000 dollars.

What about engine management and vital signs monitoring? 1000-3000 dollars for good engine management + tuning (Power FC, HKS V PRO, Motec, AEM).

You need a nice twin plate or triple plate clutch if you plan on beating on more than 450-500 horsepower consistently. Thats another 1000 dollars.

What about oil coolers? Add 900 for twin setrab 25 rows.

Headlights will cost over 1300 for "aggressive headlights" that are not crappy EVO-Rs.

Suspension is there, but what about control arm, roll center, tie rod and other modifications you need to REALLY improve the car as a whole? Add cash for that. I am sure you will want more than Hipermax RSs for a racecar. Shoot for some Hipermax III Circuit suspension with some custom Swift springs (spring rates). Nothing but the best right?

What about wheels? Aggressive fitting wheels for good looks and running wide *** tires. 3500 dollars + Nice tires (1000 dollars).

If you are going to really track the car and use all the body panels, you will need a full cage with door bars as this is probably a 14 year old chassis regardless of miles and aftermarket doors wont protect you in a crash. If it's just a street car, then ignore and use stock doors and no need for cage.

Gonna do carbon hatch? What about dry carbon drop vent hood to even it out and cool the engine bay?

You forgot to add 800 bucks - 1000 dollars for a good 1.5 to 2 way LSD if you are going to race the car. Either way you need a backup right?

In other words, it's going to take more than 35,000. Try 45,000 - 50,000 + for a full all out build. Always round up for parts and builds. Never down. But, if you are serious and actually focus and get stuff knocked away and not waste money on other crap. You can get it done in 4 years or so depending on your income.

I am not talking down, just telling you to go for it, if you really want to do a crazy *** build. Stuff for Rx7s is always more expensive than GT-Rs so i am sure you could get it done much faster than the stuff i have planned for my car.

Thats alot of positive feedback and I appreciate it all, as well as the others, good and bad... there are some things there I didnt consider... and if it take 50k, so be it. Ill update my listing. Regardless if people like it or not, and as I get stuff done, I'll mark it off, until it all says *completed*

On the car I already have a Street/Strip clutch may need something beefier though, PFC, nice tires and rims, CF hood, MSD ignition, removed power steering and replaced it with the RX8 steering box, I had a good engine setup until it crapped the bed. Im not trying to save money, but instead put a rock-solid build together... and get inputs, either they be positive or negative from the forum. Im currently deployed to the sandbox and have nothing better to do on my downtime but dream... If I knew everything I needed to know about tuner stuff I wouldnt need you guys. The same can be said of every person on the forum, and for those who think the thread is dumb, or should be removed...and? dont read it... The site is about the car and the love we have for them, I put this list together to be purposely dismantled and refined by members because I want to do everything I can to turn my car into what I ultimately want... should the naysayers not want the same for theres?

Anyway, How much do you think a good carpeting job would cost?

$500-600 for very nice used condition black carpeting which should include padding. No where near your original estimate unless you're going with some rare/expensive fabric.

You can get a new molded carpet from TFEnt, a member here, and it's about as cheap as a used one. Try looking him up.

In all seriousness I would definately consider the 2 piece ceramic seals. It's pricey but the results seem very good.

Reality is a bitch, why spend $35 K on a "wish" dream FD when you can probably pick one up for less than that! Maybe not as a complete package, but enough to work on it. So long as one enjoys his/her FD, getting all the extras is fine, if you can afford it.

It wasn't pretty and it was more than 35,000
I keep an Excel spreadsheet of my RX-7 expenditures. I have a "so far" column on the left, and the parts I am planning on the right, separated by needs and near future stuff up top, with the wants and down-the-road things at the bottom. Really helps to keep track of my budget, but also helps remind me of the other cars I could have bought for the money I have invested in the 7...

Which were the motons you tried? was it the clubsports or the 2/3/4 way race version. What were the positives and negatives with the suspension?

I know some people like the Motons and some people hate them for reasons like you stated. Sometime mid this year i want some suspension for the GT-R and i was shipping around between KW, Ohlins, Penske and Moton for total performance and local service/value in southern california.

Troux: I almost don't want to do that because it will remind me of all the other cars that could have been bought. LOL

I've seen cars on here sell for 35k that had over 70k invested into them. Just buy one and then start wrenching on it and sell off what you don't want to pay for what you do want.

The Engine part of the build, which is my main concentration at the moment, is getting done by Jonathan at GorillaRE in Louisiana. He did Kenny's build, whos car made cover of modified mag jul08, Ive seen his work, his shop, and was impressed with his knowledge.
Im going with atkins cryo seals with a "GorillaRE" street port. Along with Jonathans other recommendations for the engine. Most the other stuff as far as suspension, interior, exterior and whatever else will be from inputs from you guys, cause the car will be in Virginia by that point. I read the post from Howard Coleman about the reliablity of old school rotaries and to what killed FD's and that sold me on AI-HD, an awesome read if you havent read it yet. Im interested in any other ideas that I dont have listed in making the FD "bulletproof" persay.

www.Speedmaxperformance.com makes a tubed intercooler that can run water, CO2, or even NOS... has anyone had experiances with the smax intercoolers?

Oh my. I plan to spend 100k on my fd. I should probably post my list too. You forgot to replace every bolt in the car with aluminum or titanium for some weight savings.

Hell with that kind of budget, you may as well give that money to one of the forum vendors and let them to a 20b install.
