Here are a few updated pics. We got the turbo blanket and filter/screen installed. Along with a few other odds and ends. Wire wheeled the strut nuts just for Mdpalmer :)

I figured I would update this thread on how the car runs and drives.
Now that I have had a chance to drive the car for 150 miles or so and completed a bunch of driveability tuning, I find the car to be very street-friendly. Even without boosting it is very fast. With the increased power and torque I find that I can slow down to 20-25mph in 4th and accelerate back to 60-70mph without the need to downshift and there is no "bucking". It sort of reminds me of when the car was bone stock. The exhaust note is incredible, not overly loud, just very deep. At idle it is exceptionally quiet and smooth. While cruising there is no longer a 3k rpm "drone", just a constant low rumble. The car has much more of a "daily driver" feel about it now then it did when it was a race-ported 13B-rew with a GT35R. It is honestly a very pleasant car to drive. We will get some more break-in miles racked up over the next few weeks, then do some power tuning on the dyno. I am looking forward to this as much (actually alot more) as you guys watching this thread. |
Gorgeous.

This entire thread was one big happy ending:)
:101384_l:O yeah... this is what this kind of thread make's me do LOL.. |
that car looks like it would make unreal ultimate rx7 power...
it looks to be superior to an ls1 swap... |
I look forward to seeing a dyno chart. :)

We finally got to the 500mi mark and were able to change the oil, but it does not look like we will have the engine broken in before the snow flies. So the dyno will have to wait until Spring.
We needed to juggle a bunch of cars in the shop around today, so Elaine took that chance to get a new video on the car running. Here it is: http://www.banzai-racing.com/20B/20B_10-19-09.mpg |
Looks great & sounds awesome!
Carsey's FD sitting pretty in the background too :) |
looks so good man!! im in the process of doing a 3 rotor swap in my FD but cant seem to find the exhasut mani flange? any tips where i can find just the flagne?
|
RB sells one for $57 http://www.racingbeat.com/resultset....rtNumber=16184
Depending on what turbo you are going with, I saw a manifold on ebay for $1200 with a T6 turbo flange just this morning. Seller is in FL too. |
amazing work you have done to the car..looks much better then stock while still keeping a stealth stock appearence to it..love how there is the perfect balance when it comes to what is polished and whats not.

Wow that is a super nice car and very clean install work. Quite impressive workmanship
|
Question: where did you get the screen for the turbo inlet or how did you make it?
|
Thanks for the compliments.
Rix-7 - just give us a call when you are ready.

I agree it is a shame we are in a climate that does not allow year-round driving, however the plus side is that we do not have to pass smog tests.
Gorgeous build. There's some quality work there for sure! Cant wait for whenever you guys thaw out over there. |
I dont have smog and can drive year round here in tx. Smallish town though.
|
Wow, nice build. :)
|
oh my goodness...that is one HUGE turbo!! O__O
|
Yes, it is a pretty big turbo. Squeezing it in there was not a lot of fun. It is very well suited for the 20B though. Currently, I am seeing possitive boost pressure as low as 2200 rpm in 4th. I have only taken it up to 2-3psi and still staying below 4500rpm.
