BUYERS BEWARE OF 1989vert. Sent bad part, will not respond.

On April 29th, 2018 I reached out to 1989vert to buy a seat belt set in this thread: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generati...-shop-1113295/

I wanted the grey set and only really needed the driver's side. The belt set was listed for $30. I agreed to pay $40 shipped. 1989vert could only find the driver's side and I decided to proceed because I really needed the driver's side, even though it would have been nice to have a matching set. Instead of going back and forth over the price I paid the full $40 shipped for only the driver's side. On May 14th I send the paypal and he shipped the belt that I received on the 17th. As soon as I opened the box I noticed that the locking mechanism in the seat belt was broken or had been tampered with... either intentionally or as the result of a crash. No broken pieces were in the box and the package was not damaged, so it seems the part had been packed in this condition. The belt is useless if it won't lock in a crash. Thankfully I noticed because if I used this and crashed I could DIE when the belt doesn't lock! This is more than getting screwed out of $40 this could have put my life in danger.

I sent 1989vert a picture of the part, still in the box with the damage by text message. NO RESPONSE! I offered to return the belt or suggested at least a partial refund... NO RESPONSE! I did not overreact, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. It was only after no response that it became clear that this was an intentional act of trying to screw over a fellow forum member.

It's now been over a week of 1989vert and I have sent no less than 13 texts, one email, one additional PM, and tried to call him on the phone. STILL NO RESPONSE. (we had been communicating regularly by text throughout the sale but now nothing for over a week)

So, BUYER BEWARE. A good seller will immediately try to resolve any issue with a transaction. Not only did 1989vert ship me a part that is obviously defective, he has avoided all attempts at communication through four different channels and has done nothing to try to resolve this.

Email from 5/21:
Hello,

I have been trying to reach you for 5 days by text message. I sent a picture of the Seatbelt you sent my still in the box with the latch mechanism broken. I noticed it as soon as I opened the box and went you pull the belt fast, the part that is supposed to catch and lock is broken.

I offered to return it or a partial refund but no response. Today I tried to call you and just left a PM on RX7club. At first I gave you the benefit of the doubt but now that you have been unresponsive it suggests that you knew it was broken and are now avoiding me.

I would like to resolve this without escalation, please respond.

PM from 5/21:
Hello,

I have texted you each day for the last 5 days regarding the seat belt. I received it but the locking mechanism that actually stops the belt is broken. It can be clearly seen in the photo I sent you that this mechanism either broke in a crash or was tampered with. (the broken pieces were not in the box so it didn't happen during shipping.)

Please respond because I'm starting to get concerned. At first I thought maybe it was just an oversight on your part but since I have not heard back I'm starting to think you knew it was broken and tried to sell be a bad part. Not cool. Please respond or this issue will be elevated.

Thank you,
