Aquamist flow gauge not lighting up all the way anymore
Hey guys,
I checked the threads and found no info on this unfortunately.
Recently, I sprung a leak in a fitting for my air filter. I fixed this by buying a new filter from aquamist. I think the problem was one of the fittings had a small piece chipped off. While I had this leak though, I noticed that my flow indicator would no longer light up all the way (3 bars stayed off). I assumed that after the fix, I would be fine. Unfortunately, this was not so. I spoke to Richard about the situation and he told me to check my 4mm hoses for air bubbles. That's how I would know if there were leaks anywhere else (when the pump goes, the leaky spots will actually suck in air). While I checked on the 4mm hose, I noticed that one side of my flow sensor had blue stuff caked on the end (I use wiper fluid). I did some more research and it turns out that in very hot engine bays, the 4mm hoses tend to harden and cause leaks by the fittings. I actually tested how bad it leaked by taping a small piece of paper towel to the end of the fitting. It was soaked by the end of my short drive. I fixed that leak and I'm still having the same problem.
I've read more on the aquamist forum and found out that this could also be caused by clogged jets or a clogged nozzle. I've even heard of reports that the newer versions of the fast acting valves have filters in them so I should check there. I've asked Richard how to clean my jets but haven't gotten a response back so I'd figure I'd see who has any ideas here. I've read about people soaking their nozzles in vinegar. That should be easy to try. Tonight I'm going to check my 4mm hoses again for bubbles. If there are none, the problem must be a clog right? Maybe I'll check the nozzle if I have time as well.
