Any advantage to HD-AI with 100% water?

Hey guys,

After 2 years of researching and learning, I finally believe I am ready to start modding my car without being completely incompetant and lost. I do still have a few questions though, and one of which is about water injection. I hope you can help...

I have religiously read Howard Colemans AI thread, as well as most of the other threads in the AI section. I am convinced that an AI system is ideal for my (and everyones) needs.

I am not looking for extra power yet, I am quite far away from any tuning shops, and I don't have easy access to meth. Therefore, I have decided to go with a straight distilled water system.

I am in the process of assembling my gauge/datalogging system. I hope to have everything fully logable to cut down on as much incompetance as I can. HD-AI seems like the perfect system for this, however it comes at a price. I have a limited budget but will spend the extra if it's worth it.

From everything I've read and studied, it really seems as if straight water is a) not overly drastic (or even necessary) to tune for, and b) pretty "set it and forget it".

This leads me to believe that there is no great advantage to datalogging or even having much of an adjustable spray. If water is really as simple as it seems, is it advantageous at all for me to spend the big bucks on a fancy system who's features I won't be using?

Basically, is there any real disadvantage to me just buying a basic system, with a 300cc or so nozzle that sprays under boost?

Is there any particular kit you'd recommend? What about nozzle size?

Any other suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

My mods for reference;
1993 JDM FD Type-R
Stock motor (60K miles)
Stock seq. turbos (ported WG)
Power FC
M2 style intake
Greddy elbow and piping
CC3 Intercooler*
Walbro pump
1300 secondaries*
rotary aviation 2 stroke OPM*
PLX wideband + dual EGTs*
Dataloggit*

*half-way through my winter build now. Will be in before the AI.

I hope to run around 14psi or so safely.

If I ever DO decide to play with meth, I will definitely get a new HD-AI kit. This one will only be used for water.

Thanks everyone!

-Devan
