question about importing
dunno if this is right secion soz if its not.
ok i wanted to know how much it costs to import a 3rd gen rx7 from japan to Australia.
not including the price of the car.
like how much i would have to pay for shipping, customs etc..
hopefully someone from Australia has imported a 3rd gen rx7 before.
if you did how much did you pay for your car and what year model was it.
how much did it cost seperatly just to get it road worthy.
and i read the rules and regulations of importing cars in Australia and it seems you can import a rx7 made between 1993-1998.
only the cars from 1998-2002 are legit import.
so if i import a 1998 model or less, is there anyway to make it road legal?

What state are you located in?
There are a few aussie importing company websites that calculate the rough total price of a car they are selling so you have some sort of idea how much $$$ your gonna be up for.
Try looking at www.imports101.com.au to get you started.

From what I understand, you can't import a Rx7 made between '93 and '98 because they were still available locally here during that time and it has something to do with ******* up the market value of locally available cars.
So models after '98 are available for importing.
Try asking some of the FD guys on www.ausrotary.com to see how much $$$ they spent on importing.

I would have said you were looking at $6,500-$11,000, but after a quick search of the link WAS:12A posted I found A series VIII rx-7, Victoria specific calculator:
http://www.imports101.com.au/calculator.php#
Looks like you will be up for $10,000 minimum.
However there are always exceptions to the rules. For example, this 1994 is currently on the stock list of a supplier coming in as a “personal import”.
