Raced 2 from memory on the highway. Thrashed em. Response was good but top end there was no comp. They are pretty good off the mark though...1st and 2nd was close Stock they do 14.5's so not too shabby. Jap speck efini's should pull a high 13 stock with a lot more MPH to boot.

Oh yeah...looking at an old MOTOR magazine they tested a Aus spec S7 and got a 13.6. Thats very good....the BM guys can only just mach that!

in 91 the first FDs were timed by japanese magazines at low 13s (driver magazine recorded 13.3, IIRC).

in any case - an rx8, stock for stock - even oz-spec - should be no issue. Modified vs modified - even more embarressing

Took on an RX-8 a few weeks ago.

Mate, the 20B just needed to come on boost to wipe this guy. No need for even 50% throttle. He was revving the ring of this thing & chirped a gear (TCS off...??)

The Cosmo, its 20B didn't rev past 3500rpm.........

Hehe I raced one with a bad gearbox and clutch (broke a tooth off input gear upon shift into 2nd ) but it only got ahead by about half a carlength... FB 13B N/A 6 port haha

They are quick off the line, but they are a family car.. not a sports car

Maybe good for a previous rotorhead who now has a family and wants to play things a bit safer :P Certainly not a bad car though.

I recently went to some car show and in the carpark saw a 1st gen with a baby seat in the back :P Hardcore lol

The rx8 wasn't designed to be a direct replacement of the rx7, but mazdas way of keeping the rotary alive. If it wasn't for the family-sports car design , ford would of said bye bye to the idea and no more rotary.

The rx8 does well for what it is, the last rx7 was a good $ 15 k more, and purely sports car.

Im happy mazda got its way with the rx8, and as stated by many reviewers, put to the track it performs good.

but of course its not straight line beast.

Yes I think the Rx8 is a very good car for what it is. Leather, Brand new...solid...very nice car and the flexibilty to have kids in the back for the other folk.

Its not a sports car like the FD but i guess its good enough to get aroudn town with. hehe

Can't wait for the next gen Rx7!!

I have driven my mates one. Its pretty nice, leather etc. Power wise you really have to trash the thing to get anything outa it. New car...what to expect, nothing sqeaks etc..hee...

My friend told me it also chews petrol big time...like 400km he gets from one tank...just

Leg room at the back is great..and the center console that goes to the rear is great. The only hassle is the rear doors...when parking...its really hard to get out in a car park bay....where colomns and cars on each side.

other than that...nice car...

yeah i've heard they're thinking of making a new rx-7 with either an atmo with wider rotors, another turbo or a blown version and i think they said they're all keeping the side ports.

any way back to the rx-8 you should see the even newer one. pick up the current fast fours(december i think) and its gonna have a direct injection deisel rotor! what the! as rove would say. it looks like a bullet with lots of lines all over it.
