zero gum E85 premix
Good info^ !! Also, the oil coating you speak of.... it's a film of oil or an actual "Tacky Dark gummy" thin layer coating on the inside of your engine? I've seen the white stuff as well.. after letting the car sit for a week or so without start up i'll see the stuff on the inside of the oil filler cap. I'm not too worried about it though.
and thats not the oil
E85 itself is gummy.if you pour some onto any surface and let it dry a few seconds it becomes tacky/residual with residue, similar to removing duct tape and leaving a it of adhesive behind. Pull your fuel pump sending units out and see for yourself everything is tacky! It's just the natural characteristics of ethanol..
It even gets blended with your engine oil making it green, and you can smell the elote in it..
I've been using chevron blue bottle 2 cycle oil you find at autozone or pepboys since 05 and everything is always clean, wear is very minimal and no crazy sticky stuff you guys are mentioning with Benoil...

Has anybody tried the Idemitsu premix? Mazdatrix sells it $67 for 12qts. That's way cheaper than anything you guys use! This is supposed to be made for our engines, its synthetic blend, but it says not for ethanol. Could it at least work with methanol? I'm just curious? Almost tempted to buy a quart and mix it with methanol, see if it stays suspended. Oh and also Pettit Protek-R, $50/gal, I wonder if it would still mix?

one of my three objectives while attending the PRI was to speak w most of the oil companies re 2 cycle premix.
we have a number of non-caster options.
i need to verify w tech on one of them tomorrow and then will lay them out.

from the PRI:
here are three caster-free synthetic oils that absolutely will stay in solution w ethanol and methanol.
in each case i spoke w a tech person not a marketing person. Klotz ORIGINAL Techniplate is primarily used in RC airplanes. the tech person, Jame Perkins, is quite familiar w our rotaries and said it would provide proper lube strength. PN is KL 200

i spoke w Scott Wieland, Senior Staff Scientist CLS for Valvoline. Valvoline has recently come out w a new line of products for racing. the PRO-V line.... among them is PRO-V Racing Karting Oil. it is a new product as of Oct 2014. it will stay in suspension with both gas and alcohol and will provide proper lube strength. i am very impressed w my conversation w Scott. check out Valvoline PRO-V for more info. PN is 858545 for a 5 gallon pail.

i received what i thought was incorrect info from a marketing guy at Redline at the PRI and have since checked w Redline tech so can state that the correct E85 premix from Redline is the 2 Cycle Alcohol Oil product. here's the product sheet and an excellent 2 cycle oil write-up. thanks for it Redline...

Thanks Howard!
I've been running the Red Line since you first posted this thread.
I was looking for a new premix with no smell like Klotz, smokeless, and good for the winter
months here in Houston.
So far so good. And with the good research from the boys at Red Line and Howard, I feel
confident that my engine will be well lubricated this winter.
Thanks again.
Cheers,
Joe

Manny what pre-mix ratios are you running?
I've had a 5 gallon jun sitting for 2 weeks filled with the Motul 800 Ester 2T synthetic and it's fully suspended throughout the whole jug. Used it this last saturday in Pro-Am Comp. Car is running strong. Vac at idle is only getting better
Just wondering what spark plugs you guys are using with E85 and Premix. I might give the redline premix a try cause I am using Maxima 927 castor oil and would like to try alternatives. I have heard to use the trailing spark plugs Bur9eqp (platinum) for all 4 locations considering that I am over 300hp, omp delete, e85, and premixing (1oz to 1 gallon - for street use). I am currently running the stock configuration 7's for leading and 9's for trailing and tend to foul out considerably. My engine temps have gotten hotter and thought about running 8's for leading and 9's for trailing to physically see the difference if any at all but I am thinking that the 1oz of castor oil to 1gal of e85 might be my issue to why my spark plugs are fouling out more so.

are you really saying there is NO smell OR smoke with the redline?
mixing 1 oz per gallon?
when you say you were using Klotz was it the techniplate or the benol?

Redline 2 cycle alcohol oil feedback:
no smell.
no smoke other than the usual you would get w any premix. on startup you don't have enough heat to burn it all so you have a touch of smoke depending on the ratio until the engine warms a bit.
one of my engines has been running RL most of the summer and on Sep 11 made 614 hp at 26 psi. engine continues to run perfectly. lots of miles, lots of races. 1 oz/g.
i will be on the dyno next week w it and have been in the break in mode.

but its not proven yet?
Again the benol although having a residue has a proven record in rotaries.
The no smell has me intrigued but I just wish some people have been using it longer before I switch

as for the benol residue issue, has it really been an issue? oh noes, there's a tacky substance on my rotors, my engine will soon die a miserable death... nah, there is other issues with benol to worry about, such as how it seeps past injector o-rings and leaves a mess on your intake.

Running Klotz Super Techniplate and will continue to do so. Great wear protection ... I also get tons of compliments about the smell
Don't think it's going to interrupt my 4 year / 50k mile rebuild timing at all ...
