sea foam
I don't see why it wouldn't be, besides if it broke off a big chunk of carbon that gets lodged somewhere. Sea foam is a cleaner but not harsh in the since that it does act like it has a lubricant in it so it wont dry anything up.
I wrote this DIY on seafoam about on my old 240sx some years back:
seafoam, you all wonder but not many of you know
you need to get it into a major vacum line, the brake booster was the best choice on the KA
There will be some protrusion from the brake booster with like a 1/4 inch thick vacum line if you follow it, it will lead to your intake manifold.
make sure you have a friend on the gas to prevent it from dying out.
but yeah put a 1/3 of the bottle in the gas tank to clean the injectors and fuel system
put a 1/3 through the oil cap on the top of the valve cover
let it sit for like 15 mins
then start her up unplug one of a major vacum line, IE the brake booster, keep your thumb on the one end of the line to prevent it from stalling/dying out
then shove the line into the tip of the bottle, at this point the vacum will suck the fluid out of the bottle
have a friend on the gas to keep it from dying out and stalling
white smoke will come out the exhaust tip, if it comes out anywhere else, you have just found a leak. and you need to go to the appropraite DIY thread for that heh (for instance my old 90 corolla, white smoke came out like 3 parts on the exhaust piping and through the gasket on the head. yeah cracked exhaust manifold or blown exhaust gasket)
once your bottle is gone quickly get it back on the brake booster or which ever intake line you had chosen.
let it idle for a minute and the white smoke will still come out
then start reving it at different rpms for a few
then let it idle till white smoke is gone
you dont have to put it in the crankcase, but you can.
but if you do, change your oil within the next week, cause seafoam will eat through your oil filter eventully.
i tend to seafoam right before I change my oil or the day before, its become habbit now, the 5 bucks helps a bit.
and then your done!
