AEM EMS V2 - 2JZ RX-7 Help Please!
Hey guys,
I'm running a 2JZ swap with an AEM EMS V2 and I'm about to wiring up the speedo and tach.
I've got the speedo stuff figured out but I need help with the tach setup.
With the 2JZ-GTE AEM EMS V2, pin 38A is the LS7 "tachometer out" signal wire based on the instructions found here:
http://aemelectronics.com/files/inst...Play%20EMS.pdf
From what I've read and been told, that's the wire I need to splice off of and wire to the RX-7 tachometer signal wire.
So here are my two questions that I just can't seem to find online clear answers on.
1.) What is the exact color of the RX-7 tachometer signal wire? Picture would be great. I can find the ECU pinout information, but I need clear color information, please. My wires have all been chopped up at this point. :/
2.) What are the exact AEM EMS V2 software settings to get the software to correctly convert the 2JZ-GTE RPM signal to the RX-7 tachometer and read at a 1:1 ratio? The only thread I've found on the topic was this one:
2JZ > AEM V2 > Dakota Digital SGI-8D > RX7 FD3S Tach problem
I'm going to try the suggestions in that thread, but I just wondered if anyone else had any other input.
Thank you!

The Mazda factory diagrams are decent, but could be better regarding the tacho signal path. Here's a revamped diagram, the wire should be yellow with a blue stripe.

Thank you very much for the response. Clear and simple, exactly what I needed. lol
Now if I could just figure out the AEM settings.
I'll be spending some time with it over the Christmas break since I'll be off work, so hopefully I can figure it out if no one replies.
Thank you!

The suggestions in that thread from SupraForums look good to me. For both the RX-7 and the Supra, the stock ECU sends a certain amount of pulses per engine revolution... frankly I don't remember the exact specifics, but the number of pulses per engine rev usually corresponds to how often the ignition coils fire. The way the Series2 EMS generates these pulses is using the tacho table, which defines whether the ECU output is on or off corresponding to each crank signal edge. The OEM tacho doesn't care if you send it an RPM signal that is too high or too low, so you can try each of the settings suggested in that thread and see if the indicated RPM matches the number in the EMS software.
