Check Engine light?

Living in California having a 'working' check engine light is helpful to our 2 year emissions testing.

I saw with the RX8 model of the ECU it advertises that the check engine light is in tact and fully functional. However I didn't see this advertisement on the RX7 version of the ECU.

I am hoping it just was left off the long list of great features that the ECU has?

Hopefully someone who has one installed in a 3rd gen can just chime in easily and confirm / deny it working..

Rx8 unit works because the oem ecu stays in place. S4/S5/S6 completely replace oem ecu. I know on the s4 models the PNP allows you to program the oem check engine light. I have yet to personally use one however.

Thank you for the response..

That makes sense for the RX-8 as well...

Being able to program the OEM check engine light would be fine, I just need it to light up for a few seconds

Hopefully someone who has one in a similar setup can chime in eventually...

Thanks again!

Hi Brian,

As per email that would be possible, but we wouldn't recommend it. If a programmable ECU is not allowed in California then we should abide by the law.

Cheers.
