Ground wiring question
Ground wiring question
hi guys,
i am replacing the wires in my engine harness and i am stuck at the grounding wires .
there are two grounding points one on the rear housing and one on the UIM.
mazda s wiring it is a bit complicated and i am wondering if i can simplify it a bit.i do not want to run three small wires inside the harness if i could run one heavy gouge wire.
i am posting the two diagrams if someone can help me with that.
also i wonder if the ecu ground internaly because those ground wires go upon the engine.
is it advisable to add a third ground point near the ecu ?that would help to ground the datalogit , wideband, and ecu together.if the ecu is grounded on its shell can i bolt the datalogits and widebands grounds on the ecu mounting bolts?
is there any reason that mazda made this wiring? parhaps to avoid any noice?
thanks!!

I would NOT remove any grounds from the wiring harness.
The multiple grounds are for less noise.
I added an additional ground wire in the following locations:
1) from the rat's nest bolt to chassis;
2) UIM/engine hangar to chassis;
3) battery negative to chassis;
4) tranny to chassis (like my mercedes);
5) ECU to chassis
I've NEVER had any upper RPM breakdowns . . .
Since you have an Innovate LC-1, hopefully you read this:

Keep the current wires "as is" and add to it the Hyper Ground kit per Damian Dela Huerta's instructions:

You'll have a rock solid setup. I did this and it dropped my AMPs at idle from 55 to 21. Don't mess with the Mazda stock grounds, just add extras to it.
