You guys remember the little white dodge pickup truck running mid 10s,total sleeper.2 more head turners were the vw bug with the v8,and the purple scooby van pulling wheelies in first and second gear.
But my favorite was the 61 falcon running 7 second passes!
Yeah, that is me. Only bummer that it happened earlier in the day with less of a crowd. When I was leaving for the day, I looked at the stands and could not believe how many people had shown up. While driving out, there was still a massive stream of people coming in.

It is automatic, but a full manual valve body.

It would have been fun to be picked and advance on for some more passes. I figured I would not get picked though since the 10 second class had waaaaay more cars in it.

Weekend of carnage.

Weekend of carnage.

So the story begins getting my car back from paint on mothers day, 23days from pinks. I didn’t have the chance to play with it much the fist week since I have a 50 hr work week. Finally killed myself and got it pretty much sorted out Tuesday night. While putting on the finishing touches Wednesday morning b4 work, and Atco on Thursday. I get a frantic call from my mom, my dad had a heart attach and is in the hospital. Luckily it’s a not a bad one and he should recover no worse fo the wear. (still needs 2 more stints in the other 2 arteries for some blockages there. I get home from the hospital Wednesday night and finish a few little things I needed to ( like putting on the front and rear bumpers. Ill save the Thursday drama as its unimportant. Get to Atco and on my 1st run, realize the line locks inop. No worries make a run @ 15 psi and net

60’- 1.580
330’-4.673
1/8- 7.362
Mph- 94.41
1000- 9.610
¼- 11.724
Mph 100.97

So as you see I was off the throttle by the 1/8th. I wandered outa the grove and wasn’t running it hard so I figured no biggie ill get it on the next pass.

So I crank the boost up to 22psi and do a nice burnout. Line up then pop….

Snap the inner CV off in the differential. Now I don’t get the car home until around 11:45 thurs night. From there I make what I thought was just going to be a voice mail call to JIM @ JPR and he’s in the shop working on a motor @ midnight. I’m like Jim WTF are you at the shop this late for? He goes WTF you calling me so late for. Well turns out he has a inner cv sitting there all waiting to go. I figure it’s the sign of a life time, I speed down to jims and pick up the inner CV, then head home to tear out the diff. I pull a full on all nighter till 8:30 am then though the course of swapping trailers and picking up a dolley to get her down on we end up leaving a bit late, get down to MIR @ 9pm Friday night. Tech is closed, so I don’t get in any test in tune. So im # 78 so im pretty early on in the pac. Do a half decent burnout, line up turn up the boost and launch hard a a mo fo. And snap……. Thought it was an axle again rushed into the pits since JIM lent me some just incase I broke one. But turns out in was the out put shaft from the trans…seems like under the launch the trans moved and the drive shaft candycaned the splines on the out put shaft. Looks like ill be running a a-spec trans brace now also.

Had I thought about it I would have brought a spare trans, but you would have figured a freshly built, fully cryoed trans would hold up…

Owell next time
I weigh 2650 with my fat *** in the car….wooohooo!!!

was nice to see Austin, ernie, and the few others in the handfull of imports there...wish i could have represented with ernie...owell

Congrats to everyone Great to see some rotary representation!!! Now I'm tryin to figure out somethin though...Ernie you were the only import? Where the heck are all those crazy hp Supras hiding? Or do they never come off the dynos?

On a serious note Ernie, you ever consider RaceLogic Traction Control w/ Launch Control and Flatshifting options? I think those would suit ya VERY well, including shaving off a few tenths from your passes...

Just my $0.02,

There was a honda-ran like ****
a lancer that ran 1120s till it blew something up at mid track on its second pass
and a red supra that could not get out of its own way,it sounded real bad on its pass.

They probably quit going to the track when they realize they'll never break 12's...

Did I say that?

There were about 5 imports running well. My friend Rich with his Talon running 10.40's and another Eclipse running low 11's. A supra and an Evo. When I said I was the only import, I meant the only one selected

So i am confused...how is a million dollar Rx7 that "supposedly" dynoed over 700hp....running Very high 10s at best at 30 psi with antilag, slicks, dogbox , and lighter then most cars considered impressive? Am i missing something here? Just not that impressive at all even at 30 psi.

wasnt running at 700hp during the runs, and the driver has only driven the car about 5 times at the track. Things will improve, people are too quick to judge, without the proper knowledge. Good luck with the upcoming events ernie

Considering the number of passes Ernie has actually made with this setup I would challenge you or anyone else to do better. You can't just build a car capable of a certain ET and just expect even a good driver to put down that time right off the bat. How about you read up before you open your mouth - just a thought.

Congrats on getting picked Ernie. Sorry you couldn't take it further.

Did anybody see Mark there with the Can-AM? I couldn't make it. He called me Friday night and said that he thought he smoked the clutch at the test and tune, but he said that it felt OK when it cooled down. He was going to go Sat, but I haven't heard from him.

B.
