Ok you do understand that horsepower is derived from torque. Now without the torque you can have horsepower. Take the limit of the equation for torque to 0 for torque and see what you get. Heres a clue, it = 0. As in no torque = no horsepower. Keep in mind we are talking about a linear motion here. Also about internal combustion and not any other powermaker.

I will give that you could have translational movement without torque, but that has no application in real life.

Check out this site: http://faraday.physics.utoronto.ca/P...ginePower.html
Good Reference for you to read up a little.

Also check out this equation that gives a derivation of torque, time, and other things among that. Gives a real world approx.

Did I mention I have a M.S. in Physics??

Im a die hard rotary fan and i hate the ls1 especially swapped in the rx7 and i will guarantee that 90% of the rotary guys on here would rather have their rotary than the ls1 into their rx7.

NEXT POST:

Ok im gonna have to agree with spare tire about the physics equation. When you look on a dyno graph like everybody has seen, it has an arc not a straitline. Force is implied in a linear direction but torque does not follow a linear equation.

...no one is talking about LS1 RX7's.

My boss lives in Deptford. Maybe you could look him up on corvetteforum.com and see if he wants to run at Atco this year. But don't expect him to run you for money, that's retarded.

Must. Not. Feed. The. Trolls.
Dammit, oh well.

Spare tire, you are so full of ****.

Okay, according to your theory if I put an electric motor in your car that produces 300lb ft of torque your car will not move!?
Keep in mind we are talking about a linear motion here. Also about internal combustion and not any other powermaker.
You said it was an electric motor. I made no mention of horsepower, only that while a moment about an axis will have a tendancy to rotate, it is not a requirement(ex: the motor does not produce enough torque to overcome frictional and mechanical resistances and stays static).

Also, we are talking about ROTATION. Rotation is NOT a linear movement because rotational displacement requires two axis to describe it.

rx73rotorj, what the hell does that have to do with anything in the discussion between me and spare tire?

cool your jets, there bud. All he said was that he wanted to race an LS1, and since my boss is local to JPR, I was just putting that out there. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to hang with and/or take his Vette by the time my FD gets tuned. That doesn't mean it isn't one badass vette.

I can respect a nice sports car with loads of power, especially since he's 2 mods and a tune away from making somewhere around 700rwhp. Besides, C5s are rather nice FD clones anyway. gotta love that. Not that I'd want to own one, just saying...

and for once, I agree with matty. Mark this day on your calendar - 2/12/2007. it probbably will never happen again. Clowns.

And just to be an antagonist about it, if Timmy there has the "be all end all of RX-7s" then why can't he find an LS1 powered car to race? Is it because he's never taken his FD to the track or what? I mean, LS1s are rather common at most drag strips I've been to. Finding an LS1 is as easy as finding a 350, 302 or 351 at a drag strip.

They are just simply not impressive. that big *** truck motor better be making power and be fast considering the size of it. But they arent. i have plenty of friends with fully built ls1's with nitrous and wo nitrous and they just arent impressive. i havent lost to one yet. But you are correct, someone is always faster. but i firmly believe i will beat 99% of ls1's that are street cars in a 1/4mile or a highway roll. Thanks for the link
Not gonna rag on you, but if you really want a race, in which youll get your *** handed to you, go hang outside of Lignenfelter performance, and wait for almost any of their cars to waltz out that door. They had a turbo kit for the LS1 that pushed it to 1000hp. /gg man, i doubt the daily driven FD you have could keep up with it. And they would take your money.

Well, I said i wasnt going to rag on you. And then I read page 5.

Dumbshit, listen: That turbo wont do ****, if the car is built right, regardless of motor. And the races on the street, aka, STREET RACES, are a stupid place to judge how fast something is, because half the people out there cant drive, and the majority of the other half doesnt want to push their car that hard. The remaining 1 or 2% that you havent seen(or you would have been beaten by now) , do things like the guys boss there, and tune the **** out of it to the point where you couldnt touch it with a 20 foot pole.

Note also, that the LSx series motor is not a truck motor. It was equiped in some Camaros, The 2001 Corvette Z06, a year or two of firebird, the 95-97 Impala, and I think the Monte Carlo might have had it. The only truck to use that motor was the Chevy Silverado SS, and was by all means, not a towing vehicle. As for big ***...its only a 350. Its a standard Chevy smallblock V8. If it were a 502 crate, yeah, I might have to agree with you. Its not.

Oh, and your friends with fully built LS1's that cant beat your sorry times, yeah. Tell them to jump off a cliff or learn how to tune. Even an LS1 with a 175 shot of nitrous is going to rip things up, and your FD is not going to stand in their way.

Oh, and your VbGarage says:

Basic Vehicle Information
1993
Mazda
RX-7
Black
3rotor
Detailed Vehicle Information
2.0l
turbo
100hp
2.3 60' Time:
8.5 @ 70 MPH1/8 Mile ET & MPH:
14.5 @ 99 MPH1/4 Mile ET & MPH:

If you were anywhere near halfway intelligent, you wouldnt post that you had a 3 rotor, and then post those stock 13B-RE ish times.

And as far as I remember, LS1's were a mid 13 second car, from the factory. Meaning that your 14.5 couldnt touch it. So, now that ive blown the bullshit barge out of the water, mind telling us what your car really has? 26B maybe?

I really dont like flaming people, but when you say such retarded CRAP, I just have this urge to point it out.

I know, you are correct. I have a 2 rotor and have yet to get out of the 14s yet. Im not that great of a shifter. I still havent raced an ls1 on the street and lost tho. I never said i was intelligent. And show me a 1000hp anything thats street driven and hooks up. By the way, do you have an ls1? maybe me and you can set up a street race.

It looks like the 1000hp package was a limited time thing, but you can still find the dyno video on You Tube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYdcIuB2vz8

http://www.lingenfelter.com/Lingenfe...boCorvette.htm That is their 800 hp package. Itll hook up, it wont break parts, and it is turnkey.

Yeah, I drive a Vette daily. Id race you from a roll on the highway, but youre in Jersey. If youre every near Sacramento though, yeah, drop me a pm. Id be happy to have some fun.

Just found this too...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x58iQwlzkcY&NR

Another lingenfelter vette. 1.97 0-60. That will hook up just fine, and still street legal, and passed smog.
