VA State inspection - emissions FD friendly

Ok, I am not expecting a response on the thread, just PM me if you can help.

I had a tech but hes moved. I need my single turbo FD inspected and emissions tested. Its cool on the saftey side but its a joke with emissions. If you know of a shop or tech in the Northern Va area thats cool PM me.

I figure its going to cost a little $$$ but it beats bolting the old crap on just to take it off after emissions.

It's hard to find a shop unless you know someone that works there. Some shops send people around to all their locations to ask if they can be passed (to try and catch bad testers), so techs are very cautions about it. Good luck, I've got another year before i have to go through that crap again.

I think its my FD getting even with me. I let her sit for almost two years, now its running like a champ I cant drive it. Nothing like owning a 400+ hp car and not being able to go for a spin

Virginia is a police state... and it sucks ***.

ive got the same issue... been on CA tags forEVER and i just want to get the emissions done and overwith. im not too sure if i'll pass though b/c of my intake and porting. as for a cat, im still on the lookout for one that i can easily afford.

id rather just get "passed", but that doesnt seem likely.

Why won't your car pass the e-test? are you running a BP?

I got mine on August, and I am not looking foward to it

Why...lamo. The top of the list, no air bag, no cat, no air pump. And there is no way in hell I am messing with my set up right now. After two years of build up, I refuse to tear it down again. I still have a few options, but its very inconvient.

I'd just work on retrofitting the equipment. If you've got a good factory maincat, and an airpump (either factory or GM electric) feeding it air, you should pass the dyno test. Might as well set it up now, so you don't have to go through this ever two years.

Exactly, that's what I did last year (then again I am nowhere the 400hp mark, yet). Once the cat and air pump is installed, I am sure he can get a custom map just for e test days...

I didn't even need a custom map. I passed by a mile set on 11-12 psi.

you can legally remove the airbag in the state of VA as long as you also disconnect the airbag system indication light in the dash as well

glad I don't have to deal with emissions here central VA

Read closer. I said it's true in MARYLAND. It doesn't matter what your experience is in VA. Maryland is a different STATE. And I know for a FACT that what Austin says is true. It may not be correct, but it's commonplace. Again, your experience as an inspector in VA is inconsequential here...

as a mater of fact my license just got reinstated for emissions but not for safety but i guess my experience as an inspector in VA is inconsequential here...

For the nth time, it IS inconsequential. Different states have COMPLETELY different rules and regulations. If you'd like to do a SEARCH and find out just how many ppl on this forum who live in MD use that trick in MD, successfully, time and time again, you'd save yourself from looking like you don't know what you're talking about

Last time I'm gonna clarify this for you. VA is NOT MD. They're two separate states. Your experience in VA in NO WAY carries over to MD. You're comparing apples and oranges. Let it go.
