Lightbulb Your opinion on new Engine

I'm looking to rebuild or purchase a new 13B engine for my 93 RX7 TT 5sp. Any opinions as to where to get one?

What advantages/disadvantages of street porting? (e.g. emissions impact, reliability, power etc.)

the only way to get a *NEW* engine is going to be purchase all the parts new and have it assembled by a shop or engine builder. you can get a reman from a mazda alot cheaper than building a new engine which will have all in spec parts some new some used. if you have the engine out you should have the reliability mods and street porting done to the engine. it will make emissions a little harder to pass but stock its hard to pass anyway. you will feel a noticable difference in power with a street port. a few places are www.pineappleracing.com ( i think that is the site) www.kdrotary.com , www.jrsrotaryperformance.com (down temporarily PM me for tel #) , www.rx7s.com (T&R) those are probably the highest recommended shops on east coast with exception of pineapple which only rebuilds the engines and sends it to you.
