CA Your opinion/help on Aftermarket seats.

Hello

After searching the forums, i have come to conlude that..

Will fit

1. Stock FD Seats (does this really need to be on the list?)
2. Recaros from the Spirt R
3. Gias Lowmax
4. Bride Zeta III
5. Bride Vios III lowmax
6. Mazdaspeed Type-F
7. Memoryfab s58
8. Corbeau - some models, they supply the custom racks.
9. Sparco Sprint V
10. Recaro Profi and or SPG ( with slight rubbing to the door but not much, if you use Recaro rails instead of bride it will fit fine)
11. Sparco Roadster
12. Sparco EVO with stock seat rail (shoulder bolster will rub on the door)
13. Sparco Milanos
14. Memory FAB S58
15. Recaro Spirit R will fit with AUTO POWER 6 point cage
16. Recaro RS-G (All versions)
17. Bride Artis II (driver)
18. Bride Artis II Navi (passenger)

Will fit with modifications

1. Corbeau FX1 - fits with seat modification. Corbeau FX1 Install in FD
2. Sparco Evo 2 - - fits with seat modification.
3. Rx-8 seats (can be made to fit by modifying the racks)
4. Cobra Imola (with some minor triming of door side shoulder wing)
5. Sparco Torino 2 (modify the stock rails and get rid of the seat belt buckle they fit (barely))
6. Recaro Sportster CS seats placed on stock rails (tight fit) http://users.telenet.be/sammyrx7/ima...29_JPG_jpg.jpg
7.Bride Vios III lowmax WITH AUTOPOWER 6 POINT CAGE, must notch the side of the frp
bucket for the side bars to fit. Everything else fits!
8. Recaro Pole Positions (HEAVY modification)
9. Recaro R3's RX8 Seats (Custom Rails) Fits perfect, can adjust front to back. Lose plastic gas leaver trim. That is all
10. Momo Start (fits but shoulder wing will rub the door or can be trimmed)

Will NOT fit

1. Sparco Fighter
2. Corbeu fx1 pro fit with no problems ,but if you have an autopower 6pt roll cage you won't be able to run the front of the cage because the seat sits high and blocks the halo bars."

Being a 38 inch waist, id like to buy seats but not sure which would fit me. im 5'9 38" waist 250lbs.

Anyone have any experience?

Im looking at the Recaro SPG XL, some Bride Gias Lowmax in CF, or Bride Zeta III. i just want to know if id fit or at least be comfortable enough for a 1 hour drive.

Thanks for your help

Merry Christmas and HAppy holidays!

I run 2 of their 16" seats and I think you could get away with a 17" version. That'll be the widest thing you're going to get in there without modifying the doors/panels in my opinion.

Forget bride, no way you will fit.

The spg xl, you will fit no problem, however fitting them into a FD is the problem. To my knowledge no one has done that. They are about 1.5" wider at the bottom than a regular SPG, I think inorder to make them fit you will need to modify the lower part of the door panel and maybe the tansmission console, plus, becasuse they are taller I think you need to solid mount them for as much clearance as possible so it does not hit the headliner.

You couldn't post this in the same thread you got the quote from?

Are you just looking for replacement seats or a racing seat?

any bride seat will be too snug. i have some bride stradias (same as gias) and they are borderline too snug for me. im 5'9" or so and 175lbs (32"- 33" waist)

the recaro profi's are pretty snug too... unless they make a larger variant of it. the majority of those seats will be too small

^ Recaro make the SPG XL seat as mentioned above. It is wider and will accommodate his big ***.

A lot of guys on the Miata club take some foam out of their stock seats for helmet clearance. I'll bet you could do the same with the bolsters in the FD's stockies. I mean if they seem too narrow.

jass.performance • View topic - MX5 seat defoaming extreme

IMO, the stock FD seats are some of the most comfy seats Mazda has ever made.

well posting here get more traffic than the interior sections. so it makes more sense. and its a general question. so it works.

and i am looking for a racing seat.

i was looking at the cobra seats before but im not too about them. they are good value for money though.

i guess ill stick with rz/spirit Rs then. at least till i slim back down to a 36"

i have brides that fit in my car just fine. Bride Low Max to be exact. (custom rails but not hard to do) slides back and forth perfectly except for extreme forward where it hits the trans tunnel but who slides there seat that far forward anyways.

6' 220lbs 36-38"

only photos i have of them in the car right now. i made some atomic rex on offs seat rails out of 6m aluminum.

im sure there are better seat for fitment reasons but i choose bride in the end for some reason

You may want to reconsider the rz/spirit-r seats if you are planning on tracking the car. I think they are the best street/occasional light track duty option, but there have been a few documented cases of the seat failing at the mounting locations from track use. They just weren't designed for that. You will need a good side mount bucket for it to hold up.

Bride zeta III will hit the door panels.
Bride Artis are discontinued and very hard to find.
Bride Exas and Zieg will fit
Bride Stradia will fit
Based on the dimensions, I believe the Bride Euro and Euroster will fit.

rsepcfd had Recaro pole positions in his car with Bride FG Rails and they fit his car. HE later switched to Bride FO Rails and they rubbed on the door handles.

And Bride low max is not the name of a seat. It's a series of seats that offers a lower seat position. For the buckets, most people are talking about the Vios when they're referring to a seat. Even with that low max system, there is an option of a normal or low cushion for an even lower seating position.

Brides are NARROW. I have a 34" waist (6'-2" 185) and there is NO way I could sit in one of those seats for more than a quick trip. Forget commuting or daily driving in one.

Maybe I just have child bearing hips.

Yeah I'd like new seats instead of used, that way I always know the history. So bride lowmax? Which series are you talking about zman600? Zetas? Gias?

I've seen the owner of the respcfd and he's a skinny guy. I'm not. Haha

bride vios and stradia are a little more accommodating to the bigger waisted. The exas, and zieg are pretty narrow.

Anything like the zeta III type L or XL is definitely not fitting in the FD

I also have these seats and they are surprisingly comfortable, 5'10'' 180 lbs. the seats do rub slightly on the door panels when the slider is pushed all the way back and angle of seat is more then 120 degrees. Small price to pay for upgrades seats imo

nice.

seems like bride is the way to go. i like the look of the Gias. Do you guys have and recommended place to buy them or do you just go to your local shop?

I am looking for a seat that i can pretty much but stuck in. Haha. whenever i do some spirited driving i tend to move around as the leather seats are slippery like no other.

i run recaro pole positions and im 33-34 waist..

my seats dont rub... stock sliders, with modified sparco seat rails. i sit SUPER close so the side of the seat JUST touches the side of the trans tunnel. but if i were normal and sat a little back it wouldnt touch ( i sit at the 2nd closes click to the front)

orrrrrrrr you can just get Bubble Tech flat door panels and that should solve your rubbing issues =)
