Cool YES! Last night I shot a flame with a high flow cat installed!

Well, just goes to show that sometimes you get proven wrong. I have always thought (and posted) that you need to run without cats to blow flames.

Saturday night, Pluto (cym), UserID0 (ssm),three 2nd gens, and another FD were tearing up the highways in the dfw area. We had garlandrx7 in her mx-5 and my friend alan in my crx following us.

Steve and I were racing each other as usual, and at one point I revved 3rd gear to like 7000 rpms and held the car in gear for a few seconds as I negotiated a high speed sweeper. Next thing I know, the crx flies up to me and alan is waving his arms crazily. I change lanes to get next to him so I can hear what he's shouting: "Man, you're shooting ******* flames!"

Alan's freaking out because he assumed (like I had) that it was impossible for me to shoot flames.

At the Friday's where we stopped to eat, he told me that the flame was almost a foot long and was blue in color.

That made my damn weekend--I have a huge grin on my face right now

Cool. I shot about 5 tonight when I was out driving. Usually it only happens when I wind out 3rd or 4th then back off.

Well, at this point I had shifted into 5th and was prolly going about 80-85mph. That crx can boogie, though--b/c of the way 5th is geared, the lil Honda is in it's powerband from around 75mph up until 100 or so. At 80mph, it's revving at ~4k rpms.

Alan claims to have run even with a mid 80's z28 on a highway pull awhile back. The car does only weigh around 2200 pounds, so who knows...

Foot long blue flames? Sounds more like you were lighting your own farts.
