y-pipe coupler

y-pipe coupler
i've seen too many threads recently for this issue that i almost should make a cut and paste for it but in all honesty it is something that should be done before it fails.
the y-pipe coupler that connects from the metal y-pipe to the plastic SMIC plastic intercooler extension pipe takes alot of abuse from oil soaking to heat from the turbos that it fails regularly and even on very low mileage engines it is coming of age that it will fail even in good condition. so that all said, find a good quality silicone thread reinforced couple hose to replace it with before it becomes an issue and you find yourself tearing apart unecessary components trying to find a ghost boost leak. the replacement hose is about $15 and takes less than 10 minutes to change with even basic tools.
it is a 3X3" couple, for you to order ahead of time.
i can't count how many i have seen in the last year, threads on here or seeing failed in person so do yourself a favor if you cannot recall of it ever having been changed before.
for some reason after it fails there is usually other gremlins in the twin actuation system that arise after the failure that it really is in your benefit to keep the system working well before the issue comes up.
