MB x4 Error Codes - Question for you

I have 4 error codes in my 93 FD.

28 solenoid valve EGR
30 solenoid valve split air bypass
38 solenoid valve accelerated warm up system
39 solenoid valve relief 2

I removed all emissions, and I have a JDM engine/ wire harness with a North American pettit unlimted ecu. I have changed out the wiring harness already as I thought the crusty wires had broken in places but I still have errors.

I suspect some of the codes are due my jdm harness not having as many plugs as my North American one, however my question is will these errors cause my car to go into limp mode when the snow is gone and I finally get it on the road? Thank you for any help you can offer.

JDM doesnt have EGR

You need to put some resistors in place of the solenoids of the other plugs so it doesnt throw a code.

i know this post is old but this might help other people that might have the same problem

JDM motors do NOT have...

28 solenoid valve EGR- behind LIM
30 solenoid valve split air bypass - on air control valve
39 solenoid valve relief 2 - on air control valve

for US cars..
if you want to get rid of the codes you can get a JDM ecu, USDM Air control valve or just get the sensors and plug them in and just have them sitting there.
and for the EGR just run the vacuum hoses to the EGR solenoid and just block it of on the side that goes to the EGR from the solenoid.

please feel free to correct me in anything if you know for sure I'm wrong.

To directly answer your question, yes, it will go into limp. You will need to find the pin outs on the ecu and harnes and solder in resistors. If memory serves correct, the connector to ecus are the same for US and JDM but the JDM harness is just minus the wires for the 3 solenoids listed above. Find where the wires are supposed to be and do work.

Thank you for this link, i'm gonna print it out and keep a hard copy. I put in a resistor to see if one error code would go away but none did. So I installed my other US ECU and it had no error codes at all. So I tried my JDM ECU and again, no error codes. Now my concern is that my US pettit unlimited ecu is damaged. Any thoughts? Is it worth my time to continuing investigating this ecu any further?
