I'm done with this thread. I guess blown cores are worth 1000. So that adds a 1000 vaule to their engine. Since mazda wants a 1000 dollar. Blown cores i see selling here go for 200-300. Maybe 500. I guess my logic to Used engines prices is wrong. we aren't buying from mazda,we are buying a used motor, with no warrenty, same price. But i read some posts ..and i guess it's all in demand, with people in a hurry to have a engine. I give up. i've offered people 2000 dollars a few times for a used motor and get turned down everytime. I just don't see the vaule, but that's is ok. I guess i'm the only one.

I haven't examined the ports, but I have seen what power their engines can produce and how long they last.

From what I've seen, they build their blocks from almost all new parts, right down to the bolts on the front cover. Their standard $4500 streetported 3mm block (I have seen 3 of them now) has stock ports with chicken scratching meant to smooth out the stock casting marks (which can still be seen). I am sure they do a great port job for more serious builds, though, but I would not call the version I have seen "ported" in any way.

RTS3GEN here on the forum made 359rwhp at 15 PSI with one of their ported engines and their ECUs (so that means stock fuel system since is a rechip). Given that, I would suggest that they do produce some engines with decent porting. However, I would wager that unless a customer request an aggressive port job, they probably don't go too crazy with it.

What are you talking about. My whole argument is void. I said 2600 with a core or 1000 with out which make it 3600. I'm talking about used engines compared to a price of new. You are offering a fresh motor for the same price a used ones go for. You would think a used one would go for 1800 or so. I don't matter anways,i guess a used motor for me is out of the question, since the prices seem to hold to hold close to new for now.

I didnt catch where you said an extra 1k for the core but that should have answered you question as soon as you posted it. I would personally have a hard time paying more than about $1,000.00 for a used motor without personally seeing a compression test unless it was from one of the respected sellers on this forum. And I would still have to be real desperate. I know of plenty RotaryResurrection rebuilds out there making between 350-450rwhp for me to be paying big bucks for a rebuild. I have some customers with 40-50k on one of his "budget" rebuilds. If time is on your side, just find a core and send it to RotaryResurrection.

Oadridgerx7 on the forum made 346wrhp on stock port motor and pettit unlimited ecu. I would hate to see injector duty cycle or A/F ratios but I was there when he made those numbers. I have personally seen some of their "porting" and it is has always been nicely cleaned up stock ports.

He hit that at 16 PSI:

That's about the gain from porting. You aren't magically going to gain 50rwhp just from a standard street port job on the stock twins. About a 20-30rwhp gain is about right.

Actually, I reference that thread quite a bit to show newer owners you don't need the Apexi PFC to get a decently powered FD on the road.

Due to living in the Southeast(no tuners near by) I always recommend the Pettit or M2 ecu over PFC. The beauty of the stock twins in sequential mode when working properly is unmatched in my opinion.
