wasup guys I need some input here

here are my mods.

*boost gauge
*Temp gauge
*Racing Beat Exhaust dual tip
*Intercooler
*lighten weight fly wheel
*short shifter

I just filled up my tank last sunday shell V-power 91 octane and now i'm at empty and only got 187 miles on a full tank. i've been smashin on it.. u know but anyways still should get more miles from a full tank... plus after i did one run to show one of my friends the car i parked and opened the hood and heard something squishing... like something was leaking and the engine bay smelled like gas i looked for a leak didn't see anything and nothing from under the car.. then the noise went away. drove home and popped the hood and didn't hear anything, But still smell like gas.

how do i check if there's a leak. plus from what i see. all the vacum hoses were replaced... so i dunno.... any ideas where it could be coming from?? I think its coming from under the manifold or something i used a flash light but didn't see jack.. only heard... the pssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssttttttttt tttttttttttttttttttttttt. for a while.. like i said no wet spots under the car or anything.. HELP

Sunday at the track I got 142 miles out of one tank! And, 1/2 the tank was $5.99/gallon 100 octane! Ouch!

180-220 is very good with these cars (specially on a non-programmable ECU). When my car was running, I averaged about 190-200 miles per tank with quite a bit of highway miles.

Tracks days don't count (about 4mpg).

Fuel Pulsation Dampener, it's by the Primary Rail, It needs changing .... don't drive it anymore untill you get it changed, as a matter of fact tow it to the mechanic or do it yourself, if you don't want to end up with a charred FD.....

Find and fix the leak! Search, "pulsation damper" or "fuel leak" or "engine fire".

ps. I got exactly 4.5 mpg last track day.

I think I need to add that I do go through a 1/4 tank at any given autocross.

I just went past the 1/2 mark at 175 miles. Maybe 75 are highway miles, the other 100 are from cruising around town. I usually run it pretty hard around town too. I think someone needs a tune (if it hasn't seen track time and you're still getting that bad of gas mileage).

I second DCrosby's motion.... from experience unfortunatly.
The fuel may not drip down to the bottom of the car. Instead it will fillup in the recesses of the engine block on either side of the primary fuel rail. Even after you change the FPD, make sure you clean ALL the leftover fuel!
BTW, I get about 320 per tank commuting w/5spd/3.90 and running rich

Don't drive the car, period.

You need to have the leak located and fixed before running the car and getting that block hot again. The FPD, FPR, fuel lines, etc are all common fuel odor sources, and all of them may cause a massive fire without ever dropping fuel on the groun.d

Damn, and I used to think my FD had some kind of issue back when I was running the stock ECU. Although one time I did manage 340 miles out of a tank, coming home from Sacramento. Now with the half-bridge, I average 240 around town and the best I got with mostly freeway miles was 322 miles, something like 21 mpg...not too bad.

Driving strictly in town I get about 220 miles or so from a tank of gas.

On the track I get 4 mpg

if you floor the car quite a bit, you're not gonna pass 200miles w/ the whole tank, especially if its mostly city driving. I average around 240/tank, if i don't smash on the gas at all, i roughly get close to 300 mi/tank

change ur spark plugs, and install an ignition amp, such as HKS twin power. you'll get better milage and a lot less wasted unburned fuel.

I've done about 420miles on a full tank, all freeway...god that was a long drive...3 tanks later...(got lost in mississippi ended up in Alabma...DOH!) anyways that was the only time I got that great MPG but I ussaly get 250 to a tank mixed city and freeway...I can pull off as good as 300, but on those weeks I run her hard I do get under 200 to a tank, so it all depends on how you run her, I also have a PFC which is nice so I can tweak some settings...speaking of which I need to go get that reprogamed for my new mods...
