As far as I know the wastegate is part of the turbos, or exhaust manifold... can't remeber, but it's not like an external wastegate where you sperate the exhaust pipe from the turbo and mill out some metal... but yes I'd concider porting the wastegate for anything other than to remove boost creep a pretty "Hazadous" Mod as far as longevity goes...

Anything you do to go beyond 12 Psi, and 250-300 to the wheels I'd concider you're taking away XXXX miles... untill rebuild...

Ok.... The reason I was considering porting the wastegate necessary is because everyone has told me that with a free flowing exhaust and intake, even with a boost controller I'd experience boost creep.
