^Sorry, I think it looks good, but not because Maserati and Ferrari do it.

Maybe I missed it Crispy...where did you get the paint on-line? And do you have a name for the red or a color code you ordered?

I bought it from Speed Unlimited Performance (Suitland MD) through eBay. It's VHT Wrinkle Plus - Red (only one kind of wrinkle finish Red) ~$15 shipped.

nice restoration job. I sanded down the casting texture, deleted the mounting tabs and welded shut all the parts the block off plates go, I don't know why more people don't do this as it cleans up the him look a lot...

however, IMO, I would have powder coated it. I doing mine the wrinkled red but not by itself.... I think its too visuallly heavy to stand alone in a stockfish engine bay... with nothing to tie it together it looks out of place....

Looks cool, I had an 05 STI so lots of aftermarket parts came in this color at the beginning. The wrinkle black looks good too. Nice work!

PS, how awesome is that little CNC'd lift point you have bolted on?? Where did you get that little trinket?

I think it looks nice on its own as a part sitting on the bench. I like the photos- you did a nice job

However, a big splash of red like that, (in a fairly stockish engine bay that has a lot of black rubber and black plastic lines and sandcast silver aluminum,) would look too awkward for me.

There's nothing else tying the red in, and it would stick out and not flow well.

However, if you did the strut brace bar in wrinkle red too..... Then you might have a real winner there!

Well said. Used in an engine bay it will need something to work with it. Either other red wrinkled parts or something to work with/compliment it.
Great thoughts.

Looks great! I had the same question as BeanieTec about the host point.

Do you sell those?

Thanks,

Vince

Hello guys...just figured I would post pictures of my results with this stuff. I think it came out great and seems extremely durable, I'm impressed.

Cheers!

I wrinkle finished my R1 strut tower bar in black a few weeks ago. I'm considering doing the same to my UIM when I have it off for a solenoid replacement job.

damnit One more thing I want to do with my cosmo intake haha... looks good.

can this be done on the front mount intercooler?

little off topic, @chris do you really need to keep that idle control valve? I have a cosmo intake and I was wondering if I really need it as well.

Maybe you won't have to in your particular setup but in my case with the swap into the RX-8, I was not having good idle control with the OEM DBW throttle doing idle so I did this adaptation of a control valve. Since I had the Cosmo one laying around I decided to use that. We'll see how well it works in the next few weeks. You can follow the progress in my build thread in the "old school and other rotary" section, I always post stuff there.

Either way I'm super excited to see all this wrinkle stuff in the bay

Thanks!

Maybe you should do that nice intake plenum of yours in wrinkle red...its most fitting, specially in your car which has other red features.
